Pros
Gain experience. Lots of old school fire guys here to learn from. The brotherhood.
Cons
Everything else. Way overworked and underpaid. Continuously asked to do more with less. No raises in years. Fire stations are falling apart. A lot of the higher ups are simply paper pushers that don't care about the field personnel.
