Pros

Reasonably good clientele. Reasonably good range of cases. Good learning opportunities within work. Training (IT, legal updates etc), seminars and social gathering with colleagues available from time to time.

Cons

Relatively low on salary, in comparison with law firms of similar ranking and size. Not much scope for further advancement in the career ladder. Was told in the job interview that internal paralegals would not naturally obtain any potential / special advantages when it comes to securing trainee contracts within the firm. Not very sensible billing target when the caseload given could not match up with it. Office politics + unbelievably hierarchical - people treat you based on where you stand in the hierarchy. Was even told that one should only get help from colleagues within the same rank, rather than from the handling solicitor(s). Strong feeling of working alone rather than as a team. That said, there are still some nice colleagues around, if you are lucky.
