Pros

- Colleagues at the same level were very helpful and created a good environment for learning and building each other up - Nothing else

Cons

- Senior management would micromanaging everything - Senior management were so out of touch in terms of clients in debt, not understanding the amount of help that people would need - Senior management would constantly complain about not hitting numbers and press us to cold call old clients - No proper training and progression available as there are no new positions available - Management would waffle about how they would help with current problems and never give a reasonable solution - No semblance of work/life balance given to advisors, constantly working and staying in the office for longer and doing work at home after hours - Senior managers treating preferred colleagues in a certain way compared to others

Pros

- Toynbee Hall is a wonderful organisation - I loved helping clients

Cons

- Unrealistic targets and little practical support. Staff burnout and turnover was high - So many resignations meaning that you are expected to fill in other peoples work for the same pay - Very low pay despite preaching about the importance of surviving in a cost of living crisis - Poor management who do not communicate with staff. You will not progress because they will forget about you. - Insecure contracting meaning that you have no job security. - A general feeling that you are not valued or respected. You will easily be replaced before they actually consider why you want to leave.

Pros

You get a monitor and chair whilst you are employed.

Cons

Think Debt Free London gives the impression of being committed to tackling poverty in London? Think twice. This organisation sadly lacks the client commitment that would make the project work. At the moment, it is ran by a management team that don't seem to really understand - or care about understanding - what the issues actually are, what can genuinely be done to tackle them and how are the advisers and team assistants feeling. Clients call and find a service that is completely in shambles - with the initial contact managed by completely untrained staff, and other advice centres not all being linked in the same way to 'Debt Free London'. I would not recommend this as a serious place of work for someone who is genuinely committed to the charity sector.
