Room for Improvement at Deep6

Pros

While my time at Deep6 was challenging, I believe there is potential within the company that could be realized with some significant changes.

Cons

Unfortunately, the current leadership atDeep6 falls short of effectively managing a software company. The CEO lacks the necessary experience and skills that are critical for guiding the company in the right direction. It may benefit the company to consider bringing in a more seasoned executive who has a track record of managing a similar scale business in the software industry. The HR function at the company could also use an overhaul. At present, the role doesn't seem to contribute much to fostering a positive culture or drive employee engagement, which are key responsibilities for any HR position. The company's onboarding process and sales strategies are areas of concern as well. They could greatly benefit from a more comprehensive and strategic approach to improve efficiency and results.

Pros

Deep 6 is filled with very smart passionate people who see the benefits of the product and are passionate about the impact it could have on saving lives.

Cons

The executive leadership has struggled with communicating, being transparent, and often set unreasonable goals and expectations on the team. It is not uncommon for the CEO to call out a person or a team during our all hands meeting. OKRs are a joke because they change mid-way and there are constant changes in team structure and leadership. The executive leaders that are really good and could have potentially changed our culture have either left or are being drowned out by the CEO.

- Laid-back hours are implied - The Pasadena office is a nice location - If you're an engineer, you are valued

Cons

- No sense of direction - Management turnover is huge - Compensation for work is minimal, barely recognized
