"It is ultimately your choice on how you choose to engage with the opportunity that DE&S as your employer provides to you. The most attainable route to significant increases in reward (and therefore potentially increasing or maintaining how you manage your own standard of living) within DE&S, is through promotion and/or consistent exceptional performance. The consequence of this means if you are 'expecting' DE&S to maintain or even improve your standard of living for you, whilst you stay in your existing role/grade and successfully performing year in-year out, and the impact solely of annual pay award resolving your ability to maintain or improve your standard of living, then that is an unrealistic expectation and not what the annual pay award is design to achieve."
