Pros

Telework nice buliding

Cons

Leadership are all men. There is no minority leadership except the Deputy whom was hired by his friend before he left and the ADM who is selected. . All leadership were in the military together so they stick together. They have no skills and would not last outside that environment. There is no growth except if you are a man and white. You can leave as an officer or lower ranking civilian and come back as a SES the next day....no questions asked...example, CFO

Pros

* Excellent Mission * Great idea (in theory) - the Services need to reduce their medical corps size * Great chance to serve

Cons

* Incompetent middle management runs amok because the leadership is consumed with chaos and putting out fires. Many in the Medical Corps achieve their rank by reason of education, not leadership experience. Just because they have rank, it does not follow that they can actually lead a team. * Satellite locations are ignored / only payed lip service, but left out of actual leadership decision. (Also, most of us could care less about parking at DHHQ. Stop talking about it at All DHA Town Halls.) * No opportunities for promotion within the agency unless you want to live in DC.

Pros

Free Parking, and lots of it. On site Gym, Cafe, CAC office, plenty of lunch room areas, Indoor walking paths, new construction etc. overall amenities are very nice and security is thorough but quick and accessible if you have any issues. Great Military Staff--truly motivated. Also, one of the nicest and most reasonable CAC Offices I've ever encountered.

Cons

Constant IT problems, due to highly outdated electronics-- IT is always swamped and it can take over a month to get your work laptop fixed. But the real con here is leadership.. its poor. It really doesn't seem like anyone wants to work there. Its like everyone's 3rd or 4th choice and it shows. To be fair, the military members stationed there and working there are fantastic and really the only ones with purpose and drive. They are the only ones who try to make the mission a team effort. Fed Civilian employees here are not the best-- They are unapologetically unmotivated and have a strong dislike of contractors. And to be fair most of the Contractors are suffering from bad management and don't want to be there either. Overall if you are content making and average okay salary, doing very little work, dealing with poor leadership/ management this could be the place for you. It a great place to work for under-qualified people who are unmotivated but smart enough to do just enough to get a paycheck. You will not be challenged here.
