Pros

I had the opportunity to build strong relationships with some wonderful colleagues and members during my year at the DAC. The initial support and encouragement from my direct management were positive, and I gained valuable experience working in a professional environment.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience ended on a bitter and undeserved note. After letting my boss know I would be resigning and respectfully providing a two-week notice, I was met with support and encouragement. However, the very next day, I was told I wouldn’t be allowed to work out my notice period and was effectively terminated on the spot. This abrupt decision completely blindsided me, left me in a difficult financial situation, and prevented me from saying goodbye to the people I spent the past year of my life with. The company pays minimum wage for most positions but charges employees for daily parking, effectively reducing earnings below minimum wage, while salaried employees enjoy free parking. The workplace culture can be questionable at times, with politics and the ‘old boy network’ often outweighing doing what’s right. Additionally, there is little to no room for advancement despite promises made to keep employees motivated, and the company frequently cuts corners at the expense of its lower level employees.
