Pros

* An environment where I was able to be successful. * The CTO gave me problems and then let me find solutions. * Was able to learn a lot about streaming data/change data capture CDC * Access to co-working spaces all over earth

Cons

* The company brand is not yet very strong, but I think that will change soon. * I don't really have anything negative to say. I would recommend going for an interview with the company.

Pros

Happily will share my positives as I truly believed in this company and thought it was amazing in my interview process: A few lovely people work in Desana so your time won’t always be doom & gloom Remote working Can use the app to work anywhere

Cons

Attended what was masked as a goal setting session but was fired on the spot with no warning. The CEO’s reason for firing me was that I was a mismatch and I didn’t reply to messages on slack fast enough(!) when I challenged this because I was never off of my laptop - I was told they had screenshots. Classy! (No support was offered before letting me go) Openly discriminate against people whilst in the recruitment process. Openly suggested I wasn’t a good fit due to my strong accent and concerns over me not having the desired “culture look”. Bullying culture between management Mask themselves as a progressive company but pay the absolute minimum wage Feedback is ignored until you post a LinkedIn message about your experience, then they will email you saying they’re happy to take your feedback on board! I would absolutely never recommend working here to anyone. Especially if you value your mental health.

Hi there! Firstly, we would like to thank you for leaving your feedback. Please, if you have any any further feedback that you would like to share contact us at feedback@desana.io We want to say that we sympathise with your position; being let go from any company is difficult and upsetting. It isn’t nice to be on the receiving end and, from a company perspective, it is never an easy decision to have to make. We would like to assure you that you were categorically not dismissed as a person who is a “mismatch” for the company. We do not believe that anyone should ever be asked to leave a company for such a reason. This was certainly not the case here and we feel that it’s extremely unfortunate that this is how you have left feeling. While it would not be fair to publicly share reasons for dismissal, we can assure you that any “mismatch” reasons were entirely unrelated to company fit, personality, or any personal qualities. As a company, we are required to carefully consider and evaluate all performance related feedback received about anyone and respond accordingly. Sometimes difficult decisions need to be made based on this. Again, if you would like to raise any further concerns about the situation, or would like to offer suggestions for improvement, the door is still very much open. It's really important that we can learn so that we can always be growing, understanding and improving. We are sorry to hear that you have left feeling “scammed” but we strongly believe that we have never scammed anyone about our mission - we are a young, growing company that, despite our small size, is genuinely working with, and supporting, the hybrid workspace strategies of companies across the world. We truly care about the people who have joined us on our mission but, regrettably, it doesn’t always work out. Again, this is never easy for anyone involved. You mentioned in your management feedback to “stop taking advantage of people who are hard workers”. We take your comment very seriously! As a reminder, we have always advocated (and always will advocate) that anyone finding themselves needing to work longer hours at times, takes that time back to rest - we say this on team calls and we often encourage people to take their time back on a personal level too. This has been true since we started the company (https://desana.io/blog/reflecting-on-two-years-working-at-desana/). We have always welcomed staff to provide anonymous feedback regularly, and our door has always been open too. In the main, feedback shared since we have been growing as a team has fortunately not represented your experience but we will absolutely make a point of taking your feedback on board. Thank you for sharing - it wouldn’t have been easy to do! We wish you all the best in your career going forward.

Pros

• Team: Being in a small team means you can really create strong bonds between your colleagues, and overcome challenges together. Every single person is more than happy to help out. • Flexibility: You can work from home, or any one of the offices on the Desana network, not just in your home country :) Myself and two colleagues spent a month working from Lisbon and are planning to work from Athens for a month this year. What an incredible opportunity to explore the world. I've had such fun trying the spaces out in London (and have now found my favourite spaces which I enjoy visiting often. • Trust: We given pretty much full autonomy over your role. You're trusted to get on with it and get the job done without micromanagement. • Clear progression: There is a clear and tangible path for progression to the next level up, and you are asked to use real world examples to meet the criteria for the next skill level and pay grade. •Respect: My thoughts, challenges and opinions are listened to and considered, more so than in any other job I've held so far. • Variation in your day to day: Being a start up, processes are still being created, built and implemented regularly. This means, if you're up for it, you can get involved with other departments and learn from experts in that field. • Equipment: you have a budget especially for getting the right equipment for you to work from home comfortably. I prefer mac to pc also, so was glad to find they provide mac books. • Social events: As we are fully remote, that means that when we do get to meet as a team, we can go all out. We've been to Birch, and trips to Edinburgh. I'm excited to see where we may go next. • We have access to Spill mental health which is awesome Since joining Desana, I can truly say that I've not experienced the Sunday night dread even once!

Cons

• Remote working can sometimes be isolating, and you miss water cooler chat. • Not really a con, but a way of working preference thing. You must be comfortable working autonomously and independently to thrive here.
