Pros
The interview process was extremely smooth and encouraging for the next move in my career. Emphasis was placed on values, being mission driven, and valuing employees and growing their careers with Deserve.
Cons
Shortly after starting, C-level executives and department heads left the company. The executives were replaced in a matter of days. As part of the interview process and providing feedback, my opinions were questioned and the CEO attempted to manipulate and change my opinions. MY VOICE WAS NEVER HEARD. There is a blame culture. For a company that has been around long enough to have processes in place, there are none. When you attempt to implement a process to better the company and it falls through at the management level, the employee is blamed rather than solving the issue with process improvement or creating additional solutions. Management does not care to understand situations and are quick to tell you that you are incompetent. The company does not have any team building activities or transparency between management and the rest of the company. Being remote or "due to COVID" is no excuse for the poor communication that happens with small teams. There are no celebrations of milestones, promotions, or other employee accomplishments. When I gave notice of having another offer on the table, managers did not attempt to keep me at the company nor did HR reach out to ask for feedback. When I eventually had my exit interview, it felt rushed and that what I had to say was going in one ear and out the other. They clearly do not value their direct reports/employees. The CEO does not believe in work-life balance. HR has asked employees to write 5 star reviews to skew the ratings on Glassdoor. There is truth behind the negative reviews and others should take all reviews into consideration when applying for a role at Deserve.
