Pros

Great co workers, very skilled and focused. Good team work among employees. Really good projects with little repetitiveness. Overall cheerful attitude between all employees despite sitting in a large room with no windows nor airflow all day.

Cons

The company is run by a positional leader with a "Do as I say" attitude. The main focus is questionable hourly billing and up charging customers, even to the extent of misdirecting, prolonging projects or sacrificing quality. Salaried employees are required to clock in and out and those hours are closely monitored. It is common practice to dock pay for hours missing without the ability to make up for those hours -and it is not at all uncommon to have work that extends past normal working hours and sometime weekends. For a short period, employee bathroom breaks were being timed and scrutinized. Employees have been said to be replaceable and there is high turn over, thus resulting in poor growth and clerical organization. 66% attrition rate during my time employed. Every employees (present and questionably not present) salary information and social numbers are easily accessible by anyone accidentally opening the wrong server folder, including temporary employees. Mostly everyone is underpaid and the owner creates a carrot on a string environment. Lastly, various racial and sexist slurs and stereotypes occasionally dropped by the owner such as women being weak or "don't make it hard to read, Chinese people already have squinty eyes"

Pros

Working on generally small projects means you get to see them from start to finish. The team is competent, helpful and hard working, if a little cliquey.

Cons

Everyone gets paid $20k less than they would anywhere else. Management is more interested in finding out about where people have made mistakes than where they have done good work, which leads to a sycophantic culture and is not at all conducive to good teamwork. They are also known to cheat people out of sick pay.

Pros

- Wide variety of work - Easy going employees - Work is usually fun - Small company - Lots to learn Overall its a very fun work place where you'll gain valuable work experience as a mechanical engineer.

Cons

- Very poor compensation for young engineers - Benefits are lackluster - No flexibility with working hours - High employee turn around rate, in my <2 year time we've had about ~6 people come and go - Owner operated - I really wish I didn't have to mention this but seriously... there is only 1 "mens" toilet & 1 urinal (females get there own bathroom) in a building filled with mostly men (~25 men). This is extremely annoying when you have to use the bathroom (#2), sometimes you won't end up getting to go all morning because people are in and out all the time. The owner of the company which you may have to interface with often is very selfish & has a temper issue. Although I was never on the receiving end, if you make a substantial mistake he won't hesitate to yell at you & shout profanities. He eventually comes around and apologizes after his little temper tantrum. It would seem that the owner is pretty much only interested in adding more zeros to his bank account & looks at employees like living, breathing... profit margins. At times I found his business ethics & practices to be very questionable. Beware of salary negotiations, or lack thereof negotiations - likely that you won't reach your desired salary unless you're shooting below market value.
