A trap that shouldn't be legal

Pros

If you are extremely desperate and need money asap, you can work here. I would very strongly advise that this be your absolute last resort due to just how poorly this company treats their employees.

Cons

The cons to this company are unlike anything I have ever seen before. The list of cons I am about to provide will most likely not even scratch the surface of what they truly do to their employees. The treatment that management has towards their employees is disgusting to put it nicely. It is questionable if this treatment towards their employees is even legal. Why would it be questionable you ask? They lie to you about what the COVID situation is inside the building. They will tell you that they have everything under control and that your safety is their number one priority but refuse to tell you that people were inside the building with COVID. You will only be told if the person out with COVID reports that they were near you prior to or when they did start showing symptoms. HR will also call you to discuss your offer. They will not send an email with your offer so that nothing is on paper when you join. This makes it extremely hard for anyone who joins and doesn't know any better, what benefits they should have and what the company should be giving them. The "benefits" they provide are basically a scam. The 401k plan will only match your contribution if they make a profit. They will phrase it in a way that makes it seem like you can make a lot more than if there was a set match that they give. The reason why they do this is to save some money because they will get that money back and "invest" into themselves. There is an auto enrollment into their 401k that you will have an extremely short window that is during the work week and in the middle of the work day, to opt out of. This means that your 401k contribution will never make it back to you and they are basically stealing money from your paychecks. This place will also make you feel like you are trapped in a prison. There is no cellular signal in the building and they will not provide you with the wifi password. You are essentially cut from outside world while you work there. If that wasn't bad, they amplify this feeling by so much more by not allowing their employees to sit, and sometimes not even talk to each other. If you are caught talking to another co worker and trying to comfort each other to make the day go by less painfully, you will be separated from that co worker and not allowed to work with them again. They will go as far as to move people on to different teams in opposite corners of the building to make sure you cannot talk. Again, this feels like it does not even scratch the surface on how terrible this company is and how they treat their employees. There are definitely more problems that I was not able to list. This place is a trap. It is just a matter of time before the company falls due to their incompetency and extremely poor treatment of their employees. It may also be a matter of time before they fall into legal trouble because of how bad things are at this company. TL;DR: Don't call them to ask for a job there, call the police on them instead for poor working conditions and treatment.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you didn't have the experience we hope for our DCLers. While we are very pleased to have gotten through the roughest times of Covid as a company, we are also disappointed we were not able to give everyone everything that they deserved during that incredibly difficult time. Our 401(k) auto-enrollment implementation was a big change and we completely understand that change is often hard. Employees do have 30 days to opt out of that and we hope that is enough time to make the decision that is best for them and their families. We are thrilled to offer a benefits package that ranks in the top 90th percentile of overall plan design value of similar companies according to recent participation in one of the country's largest benchmarking done but do understand that our offerings can't be perfect for everyone. While we cannot control the cell service, we are actively working on the wifi and hope to have updates soon. We regret that you did not experience the company culture we do work to cultivate. We frequently have cookouts and purchase popsicles for staff on hot days, we encourage music playing in the shop and comraderie among teams! If you have any questions or want to talk, please do not hesitate to reach out to hr@dclboston.com.

Pros

lots of talented fabricators and engineers, plenty of strange personalities. Get to work on very large scale projects.

Cons

Complete and utter disregard for the employees. Its expected you work overtime, come in on the weekends, your denied any raise if you don't make DCL your life. Total lack of project organization from the get go. A frustrating combination of short term and long term projects that wind up constantly distracting. Small company that grew too quickly without the infrastructure and protocols needed scale correctly. The majority of the work falls on a select few very stressed individuals.

Pros

Most employees are fun to be around. The work is decent most of the time too.

Cons

3 month probational period, low pay, almost no sick/vacation time, not much upward mobility, upper management is atrocious, etc. You really get the feeling that this company does not care at all for it's employees, anyone who works here agrees with that. I took this job in a pinch and regret it. Do yourself a favor and take the time to look elsewhere.
