Pros

SOME of the creative directors are very nice.

Cons

I started as an emerging creative and had to leave because the experience was awful, and I know that I am not the only one who feels that way. Designity claims they want to support creatives, but believe me, they are only looking for people to do extremely cheap labor for them by dangling the possibility of a higher salary in front of your face, but it is actually nearly impossible to move up, no matter how hard you try. Their "job board" is just a slack chat that is full of hundreds of creatives fighting over the handful of projects they have to offer. There will MAYBE be one job posting a day that is already marked as "taken" the second it is posted. Even if you do get on a project, the payment is embarrassingly low. You will also be pressured into attending meetings and doing presentations for NO COMPENSATION. I saw the CEO on here talking back to someone saying he "doesn't tolerate sub-par work", and I say we shouldn't tolerate company that takes advantage of people, manipulates, and doesn't compensate you for your work.

Thank you for your feedback! Emerging creatives receive compensation that aligns with industry standards for entry-level positions. While the payment may reflect the educational component of working under the guidance of our creative directors, we firmly believe that our compensation is fair and competitive. We also communicate the amount of compensation for each project very clearly upfront. Regarding your "extremely cheap labor," It is important to clarify that our hiring strategy is not predicated on securing "extremely cheap labor," as mentioned. Our decision to recruit creatives exclusively from the United States, despite the cost advantages of engaging offshore designers, underscores our commitment to quality and local talent development. We take pride in our structured growth plan, which has facilitated the advancement of many creatives to senior positions within our organization over recent years. It is unfortunate if any individual has not experienced this progression, but such an outcome should not be viewed as indicative of systemic shortcomings. Regarding our use of Slack as a tool during the early stages of our platform development, it is important to correct any misperceptions. At no point did we have "hundreds of creatives fighting over a handful of projects." In reality, only two to three candidates typically applied for each project, ensuring a manageable and fair selection process. That said we now have our tech paltform launched which resolved this matter. We wich you all the best with your next position.

Pros

The people at Designity are fantastic. There are some really smart individuals who put-in a lot of time to make that machine run. Remote work, very tech-y and always something interesting going on.

Cons

The biggest Con at Designity is the leadership. Poor leadership from the top hinders this business from growing. CEO is extremely controlling, manipulative and difficult to work with. Expected to get your tasks done yesterday and get ready for your scope of work to increase (without any additional compensation). Things happen behind your back, people will be hired above you and there will always be this sense of needing to prove yourself, even when you exceed expectations. It's a very stressful environment, people get fired what seems like every week and if you want to take off a day, go ahead .... just make sure you're prepared for the fire storm of tasks coming your way as punishment. If you're applying for the internal team, I don't recommend it. If you're applying as a Creative Director or Creative, this might be for you but watch out, keep your head down and don't say anything negative. There have been so many fantastic individuals to go in and out of that business, and to see all of those incredible people get wrecked financially and emotionally is what drove me to write this review.

We appreciate your feedback, and while we believe most of the points are inaccurate, we take constructive criticism seriously and will implement changes accordingly. It's true that our CEO can be demanding with those who do not take their responsibilities seriously. He has little patience for dishonesty and subpar work. However, he is extremely kind and appreciative towards reliable individuals. We must accept that there are always some individuals who do not perform well. If the consequences of their poor performance are significant, we need to put them on performance notice more promptly and let them go sooner if they don't improve to avoid conflicts like this. The same leadership you claim "hinders growth" has actually grown the company significantly, doubling its size and revenue yearly for the past four years with very limited resources. This growth will continue, thanks to the amazing team the leadership has built. Transparency is a cornerstone of our culture, and our commitment to open communication extends to all decisions, even if they may not benefit every individual. The leadership, specifically the CEO, is highly transparent with everything in the company, and that's the reason many people have been working with us for years. This can be easily understood by looking at other reviews. Regarding your employment duration, you mentioned you worked with us for 3-4 years. However, we didn't let anyone go who worked with us for that long. Perhaps you only worked with us for a couple of months before we both realize this is not a fit. If the environment was truly toxic, why did you stay that long? Lastly, Glassdoor strictly verifies every review, and there is no way to fake a review, really. We do stick to our transparency as our main value. Designity is a fast-growing environment that could be challenging and rewarding at the same time. This may not be a right fit for many individuals who do not see the potential and quit so easily.

Cons

It's the fast junk food of the design world and that starts with its authoritarian selfish management team. Micromanagement is at its highest here. They don't trust their staff Pay sux Working hours are beyond healthy and still more expected of you Ops and CEO are selfish and narcissist in all meetings NOT HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT where they try to out you at meetings So much data surveillance and metric'ed to make the work very unenjoyable.

It is unfortunate that we must address this publicly, but the claims in this review are inaccurate, and this post may be a scam. We have not dismissed anyone who worked with us for 3-4 years, as mentioned in this review. By examining our community portfolio, it is evident that our work is produced by top creatives, which is why brands such as Calendly, Marriott Hotel, Oracle, and many others choose Designity. Furthermore, our Creative Community's compensation adheres to market and industry standards, featuring a transparent structure that displays career and financial growth opportunities at Designity. Our standardized pay scale, based on metrics and performance, has successfully attracted numerous talented creatives in recent years. At Designity, we are committed to cultivating a workplace based on mutual respect and trust, while encouraging feedback, innovation, and transparency.
