Toxic environment

Pros

Good team but not leadership twam

Cons

The leadership team has been in place for over a decade, creating a very fixed hierarchy and strong resistance to change. Outdated marketing campaigns are repeatedly run despite poor performance. I experienced a manager with no real understanding of people management or marketing. Took me to the room once to discuss other company member from another department which I found quite stressful. Overall, a stagnant environment — I was genuinely glad to leave.

Pros

Financial compensation, some flexibility with work hours.

Cons

Employees are treated like children by incompetent, disorganised, arrogant management. My manager would arrange a weekly meeting with me and cancel it 10 minutes prior with no explanation nor apology. Management encouraged lying and misrepresentation of field activities, and set employees up to fail. Employees given responsibility without power to do the job. (For example - on commencing there was no customer list, I had about 300 people to see, and despite asking for help, I put the list together myself, yet I was criticised when my manger realised there were 2 people missing from the list!) For me it was a year of feeling like I was in a race with my feet tied together. And the finish line being moved. Oh, and no sales data nor figures so you could fine tune your activities because the figures were deemed inaccurate. But this was rubbish, as there was enough information to choose winners and losers at the end of the year. Initially I was conscientious and serious about the role but once I could see how burnt out I could become, I did the bare minimum until I found another role. I highly recommend not working there. Most of my colleagues were great, although management were so incompetent that any toxic politics were encouraged rather than managed with any sensitivity or intelligence.
