Pros

Location. Decor. Young people. Lunch. Lots of lunches, actually. Oh, and on the client's dime. I hope DH clients read this stuff because YOU'RE BEING FLEECED! It's 2015. Who doesn't make responsive websites by default? Oh, marketing firms that make more money off of making two distinctly different websites with completely different code, that's who. It's called a page break, creeps. Oh yeah, awesome company. Dignity? Optional.

Cons

Complete and utter waste of valuable human capital. At the center of Philadelphia, in the coolest building in town, you'll find the most wasteful organization on the planet. Intentional diffusion of responsibility at the sake of million dollar client pocketbooks. Entire fire drills on how to find blame on behalf of the client! Meanwhile, forcing "junior" employees to problem solve, sometimes resulting in 4 pay grades and 10 people around a table for round 1 copy edits. Unbelievable. No, you would not believe it. The talent is extraordinary, and extraordinarily abused and misused.

Pros

Different food vendors every day. That's about it.

Cons

No on-boarding of the brand I was working on. No welcome meeting with the team or my direct report. Thrown to the wolves. It's not a company. It's high school. The president of the office actually admitted being an a-hole at a company meeting. It is a girls club. ECD and her posse cherry-pick the team. After-hours get-togethers end up sloppy and embarrassing. If you're over 45, you are shunned. I watched many talented people being put out to pasture because they were older and didn't "fit the culture". What was worse is one of them actually helped win a huge piece of new business. Toxic would be an apt description of the Philly office.

DH: Racist, Sexist and Fake Woke

Pros

"Big company" benefits, fun holiday parties, beer fridge

Cons

This one’s for the Women and POC who are looking into DH. If you apply here, DO NOT expect to be treated, paid, heard or taken as seriously as a white man. Do not be fooled by DH’s number of women and POC–they all just got there after the 2020 protests. Do not be impressed by their platitudes of equality and accountability. And do not make the mistake of thinking you are NOT a diversity hire–they have a quota to meet and they will meet it. DH throws around “racial justice” and “in-house reform” like confetti. But that’s all it is: a shiny object to distract you from the ugly racist and sexist venom that systemically flows, oppresses and creates profit at DH.

This post is heartbreaking. That you could truly feel this way while being part of the DH family is beyond upsetting. I am sorry your experience at DH was hurtful to you – that’s not the experience we want for anyone. We’re not perfect – no agency is. But we’re committed to doing better and getting better. Our D&I efforts began long before 2020 but we certainly amplified our efforts this year. Let me assure you, we do not tolerate racism, sexism, or any other form of discrimination at DH. I personally have the ability to create a better experience for our employees and those who will come after you. If you’d like to help me ensure that happens, I would welcome a conversation with you. - Lee Carroll Vice President, Human Resources
