Pros

...my experience at Dionach started out pretty well in the beginning. Unfortunately it then went downhill after a month or so. Salary and benefits not bad at all depending on your title / experience and negotiation skills. Juniors and admin staff get next to nothing, but you can learn lots of new highly desirable skills if you are working towards being a fully fledged pentester / technical consultant. Pension and healthcare was included. Fairly sociable environment to work in, most people would get together for a night out in Oxford regularly.

Cons

You either fit in or you don't, plain and simple. Very high staff turn over across all departments, except Management of course. Many people that I worked with at Dionach have all left, which doesn't surprise me at all with the way employees are treated. Do you love driving around the entire country and spending half your life in a Premier Inn, writing pentest reports until late at night? Dionach will be perfect for you. As a Pro, I put fairly sociable, to expand on that there is a lot unsociable people there too...they will not talk to you, greet you as you pass by them or even look in your direction unless they want something from you. Pretty bad considering it was fully open plan office layout, only the Managers had offices and you could go days or weeks without seeing some of them. The amount of meetings that take place on a daily basis is just sad, don't get me started on the monthly one-to-one's either....complete waste of time as it is absolutely of no benefit to the employee or their line manager....just useless paperwork and a waste of an hour. You definitely need a thick skin to work at Dionach. Plenty of discussions about other colleagues behind their backs, I want to say there was a lot of 'back stabbing' and met many 'two faced' people during my time there, but it was done in such a manipulated and twisted way (mostly by the senior and long standing staff which are all still employed at Dionach by the way) that I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Make a small mistake and you will be ridiculed by these people whilst you are made to write an incident report, forever to be on display for the rest of the company to read on SharePoint. Unipart House is such a dreary place to work and have office space, good luck in finding parking too unless you're there at 7:30am every day. Elevators out of service for the majority of the time too. I was so happy to see that disgustingly old building in my rear view mirror for the last time.

Pros

Pay was ok Made some good friends ( who have now all left too)

Cons

From the Sales side it was awful after a week there I knew I made a big mistake and was completely mis sold the role. But all departments and staff are dissatisfied with their role and the company which equates to the high turnover of staff. - Micromanagement from all the senior staff, this makes it such a nasty and dissatisfying place to work. - Employees get shouted and sworn at - Lots of closed door conversations with staff talking about other employees. - Inaccurate job description - Management only care about perception not results - Some employees were too scared into leaving because they had been threatened by management. - Certain people should be removed from their role as they force all the sales staff to leave if they don’t make 150 cold calls a day- but when you do get on the phone either Skype doesn’t work OR you get told off for talking too loud on the phone because the office is silent. - Management have no respect for their staff, that rude where they don’t even say ‘hi’ when coming in or have the decency to reply to an email. - No budget to spend on marketing or events, but one of the Management will go to America for 6 weeks in posh hotels and come back without generating a single piece of business and would of spent £4K on expenses and £10k on talking at an event, these ‘work trips’ would happen after only being in UK for 2 weeks. - No support from line management. - HR team are ‘out of the box’ and very inexperienced they don’t actually understand the processes that need to be followed to adhere to company policies. - Encouraged to play pool or table tennis at any point in the day if you need to de stress but then if you do step away from your desk certain ‘snakey’ staff with report you to your line management. - IT department are very incompetent and cannot deal with simple laptop issues. - Management have favourite employees who get to do nice things or get sales leads to pursue. - Pay is never correct and some employees don’t get paid at all. - Terrible lighting conditions to work in - great if you actually enjoy getting a headache but be prepared to sit there with all the blinds shut so it replicates a basement. - Office is dated, stuffy and not nice to work in - Brew facilities are awful it’s like being at a ‘butty van’ with random sachets everywhere and there isn’t even a fridge for the milk. All in all it’s been an awful experience here, myself and the rest of the sales team managed to get out. There is still some people that are trapped there and my thoughts go out to them.

Pros

I worked with Dionach for more than 5 years and I am overly satisfied with the management and people in the company. I am a very people-oriented person myself, so Dionach was like a family to me, especially the past years before the company started blooming further. Even nowadays, although there are technical teams and so on, everybody works with everyone. Apart from offering a good environment, the current structure helped me understand an infosec business from 0 to 100, I used to work with pentesters, the directors, business development/sales and the project managers, while maintaining close relationships with customers. To me this is invaluable as it means that I understand this type of business 100% now and has helped me improve my soft skills a ton. Another great thing about Dionach is that due to the huge variety of services offered, if one is willing to put in the energy and effort they should get very good exposure. Management take feedback onboard, something important to me, and consider everyone's feedback. Generally speaking, I think Dionach has great potential for further growth and publicity in the future.

Cons

Overall, I can't think of deal breaking cons to note here, but perhaps on disadvantage to consider is that although R&D is performed, there are not many huge R&D projects that last weeks/months. Of course in this case you are better off working for a research-based company.
