Pros

Well at least they pay minimum wage.... But seriously, this company is a bad representation of the DC coffee scene.

Cons

Like I said, they pay the lowest wage possible. Even if you get a promotion, which is rare, you will get paid better at another coffee shop. They have had a new manager at EACH store for a while now because they all quit. The hours are also extremely long and you don't get any more tips. Literally, you work until 11 in the summer. Also the greedy owners, Rob and Violeta, NEVER show up. When I worked at other coffee shops I was surprised that the owners actually cared to show up. They keep expanding and keep saying they are hiring, so DON'T DO IT. Every person I talked to regrets working for them and thinks they are the worst people. There are plenty of coffee shops willing to support their employees.

Pros

I learned how make artisan lattes like a pro. The company puts baristas through specific training and you can tell they take their coffee really seriously. I really enjoyed learning about coffee, practicing my latte art, and making drinks. When it's not too hectic, it's a really artistic and fulfilling job.

Cons

I worked in an insanely busy location at the Mom&Pop in Mosaic. Like lines out the door for 5-6 hours insane. Pre-pandemic, the store was open until 12am on Fridays and Saturdays, and it was rush hour from 8pm-12am. So if you love being so busy that you can't breathe, then this is the job for you. Otherwise, it might feel a bit overwhelming. The store also had very high turnover and never seemed fully staffed. There also wasn't a bathroom in the restaurant, so employees had to go to the Target across the street!

Pros

Free gelato and coffee, nice co-workers, the manager is kinda weird but like is also pretty cool and interesting, short term employment

Cons

- the lines can get extremely long - you should feel comfortable crying in the bathroom some shifts cause sometimes you will need to manage the lines with only 2 other people - no sitting down at all
