Pros

Quickly understand how not to run a business (and conversely how to properly run one) and how not to treat others. There are no pros/upsides to working here.

Cons

Working at Dolfin will damage your professional reputation such is its reputation in the industry. Management have no tangible experience of running a company, let alone of the sub-sector of financial services they find themselves in. No track record of managing money, despite being open for long enough. No compliance oversight whatsoever. Inability to clearly articulate how much assets the firm manages, or doesn’t manage, very grey area....But they do have an office in the most expensive building in the UK (so I guess that’s an upside if you like ‘all show, no go’). Questionable business practices...The list goes on and on and on... Roll the dice on your career, but if I could expunge it from my record, I would.

Pros

Nice office location and perks (breakfast, coffee etc). Good team spirit among the lower-level team members (there was some camaraderie whilst I was there). There is a reasonable amount of freedom to work on projects / role, albeit this depends on your manager.

Cons

Management are very poor and give the impression that they do not know where they are going. Many people left during my tenure and they were quick to hire-and-fire, owing to lack of strategy and direction. The CEO gives the impression of being a spoilt school-boy, that expected his ego to be fed on an ongoing basis. This was not helped by a culture of fear / keeping quiet, which meant no-one spoke out out if business was not being done properly. The Russian mentality / culture is unlikely to suit most people (unless you are Russian perhaps...).
