Fun place to work, hard to grow career

      Pros

      - Great at recognising effort and rewarding hard work. - Good work life balance - all work is done locally, so no need to be available outside of working hours. - Good office space/office environment. - Fun social activities - lunchtime sport, FIFA tournament, Lunch days. - Interesting work done by the tech teams - innovation days, fun projects etc. - not much involvement with other teams though.

      Cons

      - Internal promotion is rare, people tended to hire externally rather than promote within - lots of people have been there several years but are still in their original roles. - Culture is dependent on individual teams and varies a lot across the business. - Not much diversity in higher roles, although there is quite a bit of diversity across the business. - Managers tend to be insecure and more concerned with what they appear to be doing rather than focussing on driving quality work. - Projects take a long time to get going and often get blocked once input from higher levels is required. - Individual roles are quite siloed, not much opportunity to expand your remit, people get sensitive and territorial if you overlap with their projects/work. - A lot of people aren't particularly engaged with the work they do, and without opportunity for progression the work slows down.

Okay place to work. No career development.

      Pros

Loved the team. The technology is good.

      Cons

If you work in Sydney, job growth, career progression and personal development are available. However if you're working at one of their satellite offices you feel a bit like a forgotten cousin. Even before covid, travelling to collaborate with Sydney colleagues was rare to non existent. With poor pay and lack of career development I am afraid I could not recommend domain as a place to work.

      Pros

You get to work with great peers. The recruiters will start calling as soon as you add Domain to your linkedin A couple of years here will help you get in to Atlassian or similar companies - they love to target Domain

      Cons

The work is dull. Projects meander around and about and nobody is particularly driven to do anything significant. There's no appetite to take any risks or do anything interesting. We haven't launched anything significant or interesting in ages.
