Pros

Great pay + okay benefits if you stay for over a year

Cons

Pay still not worth the work. Everything is extremely unorganized. Owners do not care about employees. 2 off days a week and one of them you are required to be on call which you are not paid for. You cannot travel, drink, or do anything except be on stand by on your on call day. So technically only 1 off day per week and no part time positions available. Things that managers dont want to deal with get added to employee responsibilities. No schedule requests, they will not “work” with you. Having a second job is not an option. Having a life outside of work isnt an option.

An honest company to work for

Pros

This is a third generation family owned business that is an ikon in Austin. They were instrumental in pushing to pass legislation to allow these types of products to be openly and honestly sold. Management has a "customer happiness" approach and does their best to enforce that.

Cons

If you feel that the world is here to serve you and that you are the smartest/most important person in the room, this may not be the best place for you. If you appreciate the freedoms and product line of the company and are looking for an honest job at honest pay consider it.

Pros

an excellent employee discount is pretty much the only pro ... it is certainly an interesting place to work, you'll never work anywhere else like it.

Cons

where do I even begin?? since the stores are all open 24/hrs, there are no holidays off and no "time and a half" holiday pay. Employees don't get to consistently have 2 days off either! One day is off, the other is an "on call" day. Meaning, at any point in that 24 hr period, you could be called into work. They pay $17.25/hr to deal with a hell of a lot of sanitation, some very creepy/dangerous people and insane amounts of work-place drama. With no other benefits what so ever. Last/least of all but still worth mentioning -- the excellent employee discount tricks you into spending more than you probably should.

We offer a higher than average hourly rate for our market cities, in addition to quarterly bonuses on sales via our SPIFF program - with motivated staff earning in excess of an additional $1/hour when analyzed. We also offer 80 hours of paid vacation annually, paid dental, discount vision, a health-cost sharing program and a host of insurance options available through the AFLAC program. Associates are empowered to enforce our Zero-Tolerance harassment policy and assure the store's safety overall by immediately requesting inappropriate visitors leave the stores - with full support of management. Retail in general holds additional sanitation needs and are not isolated to our business or industry. We assure that our stores are always clean, well-lit, and safe environments for staff and customers alike. Our goals are always to make sure our staff has the needed tools and management support to allow for a productive and safe working environment. We offer guidance to staff on avoiding the pitfalls of workplace drama and take seriously any reports by staff of issues that need addressed or attention. We provide for daily communication from all staff, all shifts, to make management aware of questions, concerns or issues relating to store operations/safety and then address those and take immediate action when needed. We strive to provide good schedules of a minimum of 40 hours per week that also meets the needs of our 24/7 store operations. Very few retail companies provide for holidays closures. Like many retail companies - staffing is a constant process and when staff have emergencies that arise we utilize an on-call staff member to cover those shifts, while striving to make sure that all staff are afforded days off weekly. We are very proud of our employee discount program and can assure you that there are no "tricks" involved, only a great discount and great products! We also have an in-place monthly spending limit for staff discounts, with reminders to staff who might exceed those, which would not be done if there were any "tricks" being attempted. At Dreamers & Le Rouge Boutique we hire only adults who we trust to have good life skills for both their personal decisions, as well as making good decisions that benefit their employment and protect they company. Expectations of employment are reviewed and stressed to staff, not only during their interview prior to accepting the position, but also communicated regularly on our internal communications logs. Staff who are wanting an opportunity to express concerns regarding their work environment are encouraged from day 1 to utilize our open door policy and reach out to managers for guidance and assistance. We are sorry to hear that your experience led you to have the above feelings about our company and we wish you the best for your future. If you have anything additional that you would like to share or have addressed, please reach out and let a manager know.
