Pros

Well stocked kitchen, weekly flowers, fragrant candles.

Cons

Agency excels in their core competency. However, the agency is not properly set-up for creative services beyond simple production. Creative briefs are never provided to creative team from account leads only media briefs. It is expected that the creative team deliver an optimal product from a media brief. All of the core elements in a creative brief then need to be hunted down and gathered in exhaustion by production team. By the time the team believes they have captures all of the core information to execute, the information somehow changes however, you won't be informed, and quickly thrown under the bus. Account leads never take responsibility for not providing accurate and briefing information. It was figured out that if the account team/channel actually wrote a brief, they would be held accountable for the information provided - that's most likely the reason you'll never see one. The creative team is always the fall guy when metrics are down and the client unhappy. Furthermore, you will be yelled at and belittled, manipulated into thinking that you are the problem and that the account is suffering because are inept. If you are identified as someone who goes against 'their way', you will carry a scarlet letter on your forehead. If you do carry that letter, you are most likely a woman of color.

Pros

The DuMont Project has some of the most talented and dedicated people I've ever met. They are truly experts in their field, over-achievers, and the best of the best. The talent is impressive but the best part is that they are open-minded, accepting and supportive of each other. The DuMont Project has an impressive list of clients, is in a great location, and has some great office perks.

Cons

Unfortunately, all of this dedicated and generous talent is wasted in an environment that stifles growth. The DuMont Project suffers from a number of problems all stemming from poor upper management, specifically the Owner and CEO. Extreme micro management, criticism of work in front of clients and colleagues, and reading employees emails are all regular behaviors of the CEO to her employees at every level. Beyond the emotional toll this takes on the talent, the business suffers as well. The ego of the CEO drives all decisions and takes precedence over client's needs, efficiencies in the business, and growth of the company.

Pros

Every job since has seemed like a breeze in comparison

Cons

Let's see, where to begin. How about the barrage of texts and calls in the middle of the night demanding something which had never previously been asked for? Then, when you scramble to finish it on time, losing a night of sleep, no one even looks at it? How about promising a raise if you take on a major new role in addition to your current role, and then just saying "never mind, we reconsidered," after you've completed the work? How about approving and gushing over the quality of work prior to presenting it to a client – and then while in the meeting with the client the SAME executive (Dawn herself) tears it apart and says everyone needs to start all over? Lying to clients regularly. Forcing employees to double, triple, and quadruple count hours so they can jack up the client bills. Promising that you are "dedicated full time" to 5-10 different clients, and running you ragged to keep up. The absolute worst years of my professional life - no contest. Some of the people I met here were wonderful, but the executive team has serious problems. Avoid like the plague.

DuMont Project Response

Thank you for your review. We would like to respond to the following claims: Lying to clients regularly. Forcing employees to double, triple, and quadruple count hours so they can jack up the client bills.: This is a serious and false allegation. This is just patently false. The Company negotiates its consulting fees upfront and any overage in hours is absorbed by the Company or pre-negotiated in writing to be paid by the Client. The Company stands by its strong ethics and morals when it comes to fulfilling client contracts and expectations. as far as the employee's account of her experience:We have a very dedicated team and the existing team truly supports each other. Many employees have been with the company for more than 5 years. We do have a very strong work ethic and make that clear in the interviewing process on the way in and the senior team never asks anyone to do anything that they wouldn’t, or couldn’t, or don’t do themselves. Because of the nature of client services, we do work to the client’s hours which can sometime be long, but the team also enjoys hanging out with each other during happy hours, annual parties, bowling events, karaoke, and many other team outings. We also protect people on their vacations – meaning they truly take their vacations and are left alone. The leadership team promotes and trains the rest of the team to foster their career growth at DuMont Project and we give people multiple chances to correct their behavior and learn when they make mistakes before they are terminated; however, when people fail to perform multiple times, we do terminate them. We are always striving to improve the way we treat our employees and create a nurturing environment.
