Pros

Some people are helpful and cool to work with, gain a lot of experience in all design phases

Cons

Dynamik Design does not advocate for a work-life balance and is an extremely toxic work environment. Everyone is overworked and underpaid and it shows. Moral is super low and very few colleagues are excited about their projects and to come into work. Salaries are below the AIA salary calculator, and we are told we are on a salary freeze due to budget cuts, but yet expanded the office and bought new furniture. When upper management asks how we are doing, we usually get cut off in the conversation and reminded that we are SO lucky to be employed by them. They brag about not firing budgeting well enough where they don't have to fire people, but in all reality the work environment is so hostile that there is a high turnover rate of people quitting that is used as their saving grace. They brag about their bare minimum benefits and say our low salaries are made up through our summer and Christmas bonuses which are low and do not come close to bridging the gap between our salaries and the industry standards. The company has about 60 people, but instead of having an in-house designated HR member, they have appointed one of the founding partners to also be HR, so nobody feels comfortable about bringing up issues without worries of retaliation. The CEO is very rude and a hothead who if very hard to work for and has no problem belittling the employees in front of the office or going to another colleague that's at a lower level to talk badly about someone. Everyone is able to figure out who is a favorite and who is not. When it comes to licensure, there is some support as they do provide Amber Books and they do reimburse for passed exams, but with the work hours it is near impossible to have time to study. They continue to hire younger people (usually right out of college or with 1-2 years of experience) and do not provide proper Revit training but expect them to take off running with the projects which inevitably sets them up for failure. They also LOVE to give you more responsibilities but not a pay raise or a promotion as a way to keep their profit margin. Also, as stated in a previous review, be wary about good reviews from Project Managers. After a bad review is posted they either go through the office or bring up the review during our monthly meeting and ask us to write a good review to counteract the bad review. There are so many other architecture firms out there, do not make the mistake of joining this team.

Pros

Some great people to work with, lots of experience on most parts of the project

Cons

They will work you to death and pretend it’s normal. Most people are so overworked and are so unhappy but the leadership won’t do anything about it or seem to even notice/care. Teams desperately need more experienced people but they mostly only hire interns or new grads. There is constant talk of the firm not bringing in enough money to raise salaries but there seems to be plenty of money to expand the office and buy new furniture. Why not pay the people who are working long hours to get out the crazy deadlines for you? There’s not much employee recognition or events, and if there is, it’s always after hours since they can’t spare even a couple work hours to show some appreciation. Most people leave this company because of the leadership and the toll of the stress of this job takes on you mentally. And there are several more people thinking of leaving very soon. PS- be wary of the reviews left here by project managers and think twice before accepting a job, especially if you are on a work visa

Pros

This is a great place to work with a fun and collaborative atmosphere. Accountability and integrity are highly valued. There is a lot of exposure to different experiences and great opportunities for career growth. Leadership is strong with a great knowledge base and support system. Flexible working hours are added bonus for teammates with family obligations. Lots of high quality repeat clients which is a testimony to the work produced here. The company outlook is positive. The stability makes me feel secure when the economy is unstable. The designs are nice additions to your portfolio and something to be proud of.

Cons

Some people are over worked which can be improved with better work life balance. There is unlimited amount of work which is a good problem to have.
