Pros

really great co-workers who are nice people, except for a few toxic egomaniacs. owners are nice and approachable, but penny-pinchers. good to get a start on engineering process and manufacturing environment

Cons

Dytran is a toxic work environment run by a few egomaniacs at the upper and middle management levels where insane office politics and finger pointing and stealing credit is the normal MO. Another former worker already hinted at it, but there's a certain "golden boy" who can do no wrong to the owners and is completely toxic with bad design decisions and failed projects because of bad engineering processes. he will take everybody else's work as his own and blame others for the failures, and is backed up by senior management who doesn't understand the technology nor seems to care too much. Lots of brown-nosing and shady politics and put-downs to the workers who has to clean up the mess of their "golden boy." Overall, it's a matter of how much insults and being screamed at on a daily basis you can take before deciding your sanity and mental health is at risk and isn't worth it anymore. There's no room for advancement in your career and the pay is lowball compared to industry standard.

Pros

Great family owned company with pertinent technology and a good work environment as long as you don't run into the Development Engineering Demi-god who was oppressing his co-workers when I was there.

Cons

One egocentric guy with a superiority complex, atrocious lack of manners/humanity, shoot-from-the-hip technology and too much power made the environment toxic.

Pros

Small, family owned company with some really great people in key positions. Decent benefits and the work/life balance was nice as long as you got your job done. High quality products.

Cons

The family is clearly planning to sell the company (despite their constant denials) and the CEO stopped making long range planning decisions a while ago. He comes into the office a few hours a day and watches YouTube videos. The Technical Director is another family member and owner. On the personal level, he is a great guy. On the professional side, he doesn't have the temperament or leadership skills for his role. The CFO is also a family member and owner; she knows her stuff and works hard. The company has a "favorites" culture where a few employees are given free reign to behave as they like with no consequences. A recent favorite quit and at her going away lunch one of the owners noted that HR's workload would significantly lighten because this favorite picked on other employees who went to HR for help, thus taking up HR time. ( Newsflash--no one ever got any assistance with the bullying due to the bully's favorite status.) The Engineering team has real talent but the new product development timelines are never met and that talent is not well used in the company. Production is ALWAYS behind and the place loses business because they cannot deliver. The sensors and cables are top notch within the industry but Dytran can never expand their market share because of leadership and planning issues. Given the quality of the technology they produce, they should be able to compete with others in the field.
