Pros

I’ve been at ELLKAY long enough to have experienced both the “before” and the current direction, and the difference over the past year has been pretty noticeable. Since the new C-suite came in, there’s been a real shift in how the company operates. Communication is much clearer across the board, especially when it comes to priorities and timelines. Project direction changes still happen (as they do anywhere), but they’re actually communicated early and consistently, so you’re not scrambling after hours trying to catch up. One thing I genuinely appreciate is the focus on growth. Leadership and management actively encourage you to keep learning. There’s also been a push to modernize tools and workflows, which has made a big difference. For example, moving from older tools like Joomla and Adobe XD to more current ones like Webflow and Figma, and embracing AI where it makes sense. Benefits have also seen some updates. There’s been an increase in observed U.S. federal holidays, health plan incentives, and the 401k options are flexible (Roth + Traditional).

Cons

Like any growing company, there are still occasional shifts in direction (but at least they’re communicated now).

Pros

The organization offers flexibility through remote work, There is also valuable hands-on experience gained by working across multiple systems, which can help build technical skills.

Cons

The organization demonstrates a consistent pattern of undervaluing its employees, beginning with below-market compensation and extending into declining benefits and limited opportunities for advancement. Leadership lacks practical implementation experience and does not appear to understand how to effectively operate a PMO, resulting in poor direction, inconsistent execution, and minimal accountability. Employee turnover remains high, largely driven by leadership decisions that prioritize cost-cutting over retention. There is a repeated pattern of workforce reductions across departments, followed by rehiring for the same roles at lower pay. At the same time, employee benefits have steadily declined. Medical benefits have become increasingly less competitive, placing a greater financial burden on employees while offering reduced value. What was once presented as “unlimited” PTO has now been restricted, requiring leadership approval beyond 20 days, significantly diminishing its usefulness. Bonuses are minimal and fail to reflect employee contributions, and there appears to be a consistent effort to avoid meaningful promotions or competitive salary increases. While the organization promotes a “client-first” philosophy, it does so at the expense of its employees. There is little investment in employee satisfaction or retention, leading to burnout, increased workloads, and operational strain as positions remain vacant or underfilled. Compounding these issues, some managers lack both leadership capability and the necessary subject matter expertise—particularly in areas such as data archiving—which further undermines team performance and overall effectiveness.
