Pros

There are a number of responsible, talented, and kind people within this organization. However, leadership is not among this group.

Cons

It is a sink or swim atmosphere. Initially, the freedom to take on projects or intiiatives appealed to me the reality is that not having any clear guidelines simply sets one up for absolute failure. Leadership is incapable of adopting, implementing, or outlining a clear vision which makes it nearly impossible for employees to work effectively.

Pros

As an employee you receive lots of experience in a fast paced, high pressure, autonomous environment. This is one of the hardest working group of co-workers you will ever be around. EMTEQ does a great job of hiring the best people.

Cons

As said in the "Pros" section, EMTEQ hires the best and hardest working employees. However, management does a very poor job of employee retention. When employees leave EMTEQ a party is thrown for them by their co-workers. The language used around the party, and even the office at times, is "you are so lucky to be leaving" or "keep an eye out for me at your new employer for a position for me". This is the tone and culture of 80% of the employees in a non management level. What drives people to leave EMTEQ so frequently? - Lack of leadership - management and senior management are just bosses not leaders with a vision and do not have a vested interest in developing their team - Lack of work life balance - Vacations are asked to be canceled when they have been scheduled many weeks in advance, working at least one weekend a month is standard, and 10-14 hour days are the norm - A culture of "do whatever it takes" but refuses to lead with a vision for the future and develop the employees that work hard to get product out the door. - Demotivating culture - Employees are talked about behind their back negatively in the open in front of other employees
