Pros

There are some really nice people doing their best under trying circumstances

Cons

-Total lack of positive corporate culture: The only culture being driven at the top is fear and deception. Salary suspension threats were frequent from the Founder. Bold claims made to customers and new recruits that simply aren't true. -Lack of diversity: top management and board is 99% male. The only female is the Founder's wife. -Quality of code and projects is poor. Not sure if due to people, technology stack, budgeting, management or a combination. You can't be proud of the work the company does. Every customer I talked to bad-mouthed our company. -Operational issues: Salaries started being paid 1-2 weeks late - on more than one occasion. There was no comms or explanation around this. This feels like a sinking ship. -Global HR position that was vacant for nearly the year that I was there. As I said, the company could care less about you.

Pros

Actually on the onset, the company looks like a very professional, and highly capable company. The leadership & management are excellent salesmen and have branded the company quite well. However on the inside the company is hollow, extremely short sighted and narrow focused, deceptive in its ways of working with internal staff and dishonest with external customers and partners. The pros like being a multinational company, with multi diverse team, and innovative technology are all nothing but a trap to capture unexpecting employees, customers and partners alike. Seriously, do your research and ask the hard questions about the technology, the product and the assess the capability of the company before you join, or do business with this company. If you feel something is amiss during a conversation, explore further and dwell deeper - you will soon realize it's a big gaping hole.

Cons

The leadership & management are filled with salesmen quite unlike a technology company. The technology is a dead technology with very little future ahead. Be careful of what you get into, cause once you get in - there is almost no way out.. It gets really hard for you to grow your career or talent or skills in this company. So watch it. Some staff had this to say about the company, but were forced to take it off by the management some time back, I thought of highlighting this.. See below: 1. Salary delays all the time 2. Lies about income , lies about objective 3. No plan for the company's success 4. No idea what they are selling and whom they are selling it 5. Lies to clients to earn money 6. Too money minded not business driven 7. Delusion of Grandeur 8. Manager with no IT knowledge no software knowledge no presentation skills 9. Chairman full of crazy ideas but no proper planning 10. Oversize with poor delivery 11. Always selling poor grade software based on the chairman's wants and ideas rather than public opinion. 12. Too rush to go in software development 13. Lack of market research 14. No appreciation of workers effort 15. Lack of transparency 16. Crude Lack of Resources , very poor company that cannot afford to buy decent hardware for its own workers 17. Fails to provide motivation to employees 18. Always squeeze all the energy and passion out of its workers 19. Ruin the life of its employees by destroying their dreams and passion not allowing them to take ownership of their work. 20. Lies to clients in every possible ways. With poor presentation, poor deadline management and project management skills. Another employee had to say this: Lies, lies and more lies... I've never seen such liars in my life. From delaying salaries by months on end to making false promises to customers, the company's slogan should be "We overpromise and underdeliver, and feel not shame in that". I do not believe they will survive much longer with such lack of ethics and poor morals, I do wonder how they sleep at night. It is shameful to see such bad management. Companies like these has to be shut down. I highly recommend anyone considering to work here to run, as it will only be disappointing. Don't be fooled by what they do, the products sound like it could be cool, but it is not. And they are definitely, definitely *not* the world's leading company in 3D... Even though they write that on every page of their website.

Pros

Most employees are passionate about their job and in general there is a positive energy coming from the team. You may work on some very interesting customer projects. Just that is in itself a reason to join and stick around for a bit.  Working at EON Reality, you may get some international exposure. The founder works hard and gets things done. A few more pros for the Singapore Office Great cultural diversity Mutual Respect as core value

Cons

AT THE SINGAPORE OFFICE: Don’t expect any clarity from the local management. Even more so, most of us find the local management’s attitude armful to the good execution of operations. It’s not uncommon to realise that one of your colleagues was deliberately given an information contrarian to the one you received. When problems occur they are usually not addressed and left to fate with the hope they will resolve themselves. Also the Management doesn’t make anything to solve conflicts in the workplace. That ends up with dysfunctional teams of mid-level managers who are unable to wok together or even simply talk to each other(when it doesn't end up in a fist fight... Yes it happened in the office). On top of that the Management has difficulty to establish efficient processes. That has a demotivating effect on the entire team. Last but not least, Perks are bad. What you should know before you take a local role : If you are interested in VR and AR go ahead, jump in! But be extremely careful with your employment contract:1) Don’t let them lure you with some Bonus and commissions. They simply don’t pay commissions. that May eventually lead to legal trouble but they don’t seem to care.2) Look at any non compete clause or NDA that would prevent you from working in the industry after your termination.3) Be careful with your contract termination terms. The contract authorises them to fire employees without notice, explanations and more importantly no indemnity. In 2019 the team lost about 1/3 of its staff. EON reality asked employees to sign a resignation letter or threaten to fire them on the spot with no explanation and no compensation. And just after management got the resignation letter signed, they pushed the employees to clear their remaining leave so they wouldn’t even have to compensate them for that. AT THE GLOBAL LEVEL due to the founder’s questionable business ethics and the poor products he forces his team to develop, the company is unlikely to raise the capital it needs to survive, which doesn’t make it the best place to plan your career. A large part of the company’s revenue is based on a scam. They travel the world trying to fool people into buying their obsolete technology in bulk. In general they target decision makers from government or universities from developing regions who for some reason don’t do their due diligence and join force with EON to open a center  that usually become dormant, or closed within 3 years after its creation. Why so? Because these centers are not designed to be sustainable. Obsolete tech, Obsolete Software, No framework for recruiting  and growing talented resource. Almost all the centers have proven to be a bad investment. The founder himself realises this is not sustainable. so the company has been investing heavily in the development of their new product, the AVR platform supposed to be a one stop AR and VR solution for the education sector. The sad truth is that after more than 3 years of development this platform hasn’t more than a few hundred active users at most. What you should know before you take a global role : The founder had never really bothered to invest in HR  or establish a healthy work culture. The Founder makes it a point to troll his employee’s mailboxes with his memos and it’s common to receive 20 to 40 emails from him during your week end which is really disrespectful given salaries are regularly delayed. Most employees don’t really believe the founder’s vision but they do their work by fear of getting fired. There is no framework for employee growth. The founder regularly threatens to hold off salaries and to only pay commissions, which is hilarious since commissions themselves don’t even get paid(at least in Singapore). A FEW MORE THINGS: After reading all this, if you are still interested to join(and I’d agree at that point that would be a big “if”) make sure to not become an EON Studio developer. EON Studio is the company’s 3D engine and while it is still sold at a premium price It’s reached End of life. So any skill you’ll build using it will not be applicable anywhere outside the company. Last but not least, suppliers Payment are regularly delayed.
