Pros

- Some genuine lovely people work here - Good support from majority of the staff - Free coffee - Some great projects - Induction process was good - HR were great when I finally reached out about my concerns - Decent social events - Little to no overtime required

Cons

- Poor office space, 1 meeting room and overall just really cramped with tiny desks and no storage for samples - Some questionable people as project leads - seems like they're appointed based off how long they've worked at the company, not their skill level - Small office mentality despite being a large company - Can't listen to music in the office - via headphones (the excuse is they're client facing but it does feel like more of a control issue) - Unless you are running a project, you will get zero face time with the clients despite continously asking if you can be involved in meetings - this will also include site visits (this will depend on who is running your project but it seems quite unanimous) - Project management is a shambles - no drawing lists, terrible direction, last minute panics and rushing, kept out of the loop of important decisions constantly, last minute comments on work - Your opinion will not be taken into consideration during the design process unless you are the project lead - Lack of activity done when I voiced my concerns regarding projects and mental health - management only cared about hitting targets - Upon leaving, uncomfortable remarks were made to me about the riskiness of my decision - Blame passed around if project targets are not met (even if you have voiced concerns about production issues) - Promotions handed out based on how long you've worked at EPR, not on skill level - Low salary and no bonus/benefits

Pros

Very steady, predictable, secure practice to work for as long as you meet your deliverables. Great practice if it's your first working experience, you will learn a lot. Good place for delivering time tested architecture, nothing conceptually challenging or groundbreaking. Great place to learn about project delivery. Over the years this practice has accumulated profound experience in delivering buildings within the UK. Lots of technically knowledgeable people. Bricks to building regulations. It is a very British practice. Being British will definitely help. Paid ARB/RIBA retention fees.

Cons

No benefits, no bonus until associate level. Promotion process is not transparent. Internal companies' surveys are not transparent. No sharing of information between management and the staff below associate level. Non native English speakers have very low chances of breaking in or being entrusted with liaising with clients. During annual reviews you are not allowed to discuss salary matters, can't get specific answers of what needs to be done in order to progress. Mentoring programme is just a smoke cover. Very strict austerity measures within the company. Design culture is not inclusive. Design values, methods, and approach feels very conservative. During design meetings they never pause to ask what you're thinking. All CPD, other activities, are during lunch break, not during working hours. Wearing headphones and listening to music is not allowed. Officially by work contract. Constant IT issues. Daily lack of software licenses. Revit is the center of the Universe. Adobe CS license is issued for 3 days. Very low motivation levels considering all the above. Internal team meetings aren't really meetings, it's a conversation between director and associate. Feels like big brother knows what's best for you and how things should be done all the time. Due to the nature of being a delivery architect some key projects aren't designed by EPR. It's delivered by them only. Which is very confusing because they forget to mention this in the website.

Pros

Individuals' experience with EPR varied depending on the management team's allocation, project, and resourcing. In my personal experience, I have been on good teams with talented and supportive individuals. They have a good structure. The technical and BIM teams are great and always ready to help. The people I have engaged with are genuinely nice and friendly. Internal EPR teams organise regular staff events after working hours, such as CPDs, yoga, life drawing, football, and general social events. Good communal area and cyclist facility

Cons

Like every other company, promotions can be political. Some talented, accomplished people (at the general staff level and some associates) operate way above their job description and are overlooked for promotions. There is zero career development, nada. It does seem like there is no equal starting point or opportunity—being excellent at your job is not near enough; you have to be liked by management, too. EPR fronts in championing EDI, staff development, and retention. They had written a plan for this, and if, according to their plan - 2-3 years in, they have fallen very short of their statement. They are very out of touch. There needs to be more communication between management and staff - if they listen. EPR is not competitive, nor are they good at retaining staff. There are always farewell emails or leaving drinks. There are no benefits or incentives. EPR provide a standard 20-day holiday and minimum pension contribution. Salary is so-so.
