Pros

Get to work on your own, support staff is friendly. That's about it

Cons

You are told that your appointments are set with interested merchants (and, why not believe that? Obviously they've spoken to someone and they've agreed to a meeting, right? Read on..), half the time you get a 'I told them we weren't interested' or 'umm, now isn't a good time' after driving halfway across the city, burning your gas and paying for parking. And, when you call your 'sales manager', you're given a hard time about leaving. You're not going to get a sale by making a merchant take YOUR phone, to speak to a pushy 'manager' that will essentially try to guilt them into speaking with you. No thanks. Sales is a crappy industry on it's own, no one likes to feel like they're the gum on the sole of someone else's shoe and, that was the whole reason I took the job, the appointments. Thinking I was going to see people that were interested in the services. Not so, 95% of the time. Be prepared for a lot of variety store appointments as well and, unless you're coming in with a translator, you're not going to make the sale, because they don't understand half of what you're saying. EVO's business practices are also far from 'above board'. You're not specifically told to LIE to merchants, but you ARE told NOT to mention the 'flex pay' program. You're told to tell them that there's no MONTHLY FEE for the equipment (which, technically, there isn't. There's not going to be something on their statements that shows 'equipment rental'), but, instead, they're paying 1% per transaction for it. If they have a high volume/high ticket business, do the math. As mentioned by another, they're STRICTLY commission. So, keep in mind, you're paying for gas, parking and, if you want to get business cards from businesses (they expect 5/day), how can you comment on their payment processor unless you're holding it? That's right, the only way to do so, (quickly, unless you want to spend half an hour in the shop, and it's slow enough for the decision maker to be actually SPEAKING to you), is to purchase something. Budget for that too. Budget as well for paperwork (yes, they'll send you a 'package' at the beginning), it's a 13 page application form, plus pages for all the different options, etc. and finally, a 'work sheet', that has to be filled out at the beginning of every appointment. To keep your paperwork in order, count on spending around $30 at Staples. I mean, they expect you to pay for your own business cards...at $75. Ridiculous. Also count on waiting for your pay. After you make the sale, you have to submit the paperwork, which, of course, you'll end up scanning and submitting about 10 times before they say it's visible enough. (Really? You don't have the originals, you never ask for them, why not just fill in a box if you can't see it?) Then, it's a few days for it to get approved, next, it moves over to equipment deployment. You're told to tell the merchant that everything will be looked after by EVO, but they just courier it. If they can't figure it out, you'll be expected to go BACK in and do the installation. This also leaves the fate of your pay, up to the merchant who, if busy, will continually tell the CS Department that they don't have time, etc. Finally, the equipment has to be up and running for 48 hours before it's moved to commission. Another thing they tell you to say, is that EVO will look after cancelling their current provider. This is NOT true. I've been told, twice, to say I'm the accountant for the merchant and we're cancelling the service. To do this, you need a merchant that wouldn't think that sounds as shady as it is....because, if they get to really thinking about that, you're going to lose the sale. When you DO make a sale, the pay is great but, you're also pulling your own wallet out. A lot. Finally, remember, this is the digital age. Even if you get in there, the merchant is happy, ready to go with the program, what are they going to check when they get home? That's right, EVO Canada reviews. If they do, you're finished. Can't push a boulder UP a cliff.

Pros

Great health insurance, a free lawyer while you're employed, and casual dress code

Cons

EVO is a company with no clear vision. They tell you it's Get. Grow. Keep. But put forth no effort to actually do any of those things. Management is tactless, untrained, and everyone knows when they've targeted an employee for termination. They openly admit to retaliatory coaching during write ups, and get into arguments with employees on the floor. They are disrespectful to employees on extended medical leave, and let people take their personal property because "as far as their concerned, the employee isn't coming back" to almost directly quote a supervisor. They allow reps to get away with everything until the targeted, too. There is no accountability, no discipline, and it's a very toxic environment. In the last three months we've lost more reps than we've brought in, and they all left over stress and the management team. Worst of all, this is the environment that all the higher ups support. They allow this. HR turns a blind eye, and as long as they're promised a bigger profit, better looking numbers, the directors don't care. They trick their customers into paying for brand new products, and reward employees with monetary gains for doing so. They'll tell you the money is just to promote their Value Added Sales directive, and to encourage resolving issues. But there is no discipline for unethical sales tactics. Employees openly brag about disabling client products to force them to buy new products, even though their current products still work. To summarize, EVO's concerns are not the clients or the non-supervisory roles. It's just the bottom line and making sure their managers are cozy.

Pros

Very little positives about this place. Anything that is positive comes from my Co-workers, not really the company. We do right by each other and get along well. I think that’s mainly to lift our increasingly low morale.

Cons

Compensation- EVO is delusional in they think they pay market or above. They are taking the “If you repeat a lie enough times, people will believe it” approach. They can say it until they are blue in the face. The Fact remains a majority of people are underpaid. Top Heavy- Like I said a majority but not all. Upper management and the executives are overpaid. No one gets stock options and we have to wait 5 years to be fully vested in the already stingy 401k. Benefits- worse than the pay. If you’re healthy it’s better to just pay cash for your one or two doctors’ visits, than taking EVO’s sub-par, expensive joke of health insurance. Direct Management- Some of the worst managers I have ever seen are in place at EVO. When I think of a manager I think of a total package. The people skills of some EVO managers is nonexistent. Lies, gossip, deception, and ignorance are par for the course around here when it comes to management. On top of that the managers walk around like they are better than everyone else. Anyone can be smart and knowledgeable not anyone can manage. Middle Management- for the most part middle management is all new. This was supposed to me make things better but it’s far from the truth. They replaced middle managers who were great with people but were not the smartest and couldn’t manage with brilliant people who are not good with people and still can’t manage. Upper Management/Executives- mainly located in Atlanta and they run EVO from an ivory tower. When they are in town they do not interact with anyone. They walk by people and don’t even say good morning. Its ok they are so awkward most of us don’t even want to talk to you anyway. I recently found out a lot of the executive bonuses are based off net income. This explains why raises, new computers and many other expenses are never approved. HR- I really don’t even know why the HR department exists at EVO. They literally do nothing for us. Even if you need help with a form it takes a week, if it even happens. Their main job is to be complaisant with management’s wrongdoings. Management resources is a more realistic name than human resources.

Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We are sorry to hear about your negative experience. We are looking into these issues and will work to resolve them promptly and accurately. We set a high standard for ourselves in every department, and we are incredibly apologetic that your current experience has not met your expectations. Every year we roll out an Employee Engagement Survey. The feedback from the recent surveys were very positive. Any comments and critiques we received have led us to create culture campaigns where we address any pain points we have as a global, publically-traded company. As with any company, there are pain points. However, we have incredible teams who work diligently to make sure every employee has a good experience with EVO. We want every EVO department and team member to know how much we appreciate the hard work put in on a daily basis.
