The person at the top level who hired me and who I reported to turned out to be a self-identified bully and a micromanager who creates and uses a culture of fear, negativity, and suspicion to run business. Approaching management with concerns, suggestions, or requests was met with skepticism and punishment. It felt like suggesting something could be used against you. Both customers and employees were always wrong. Goals were impossible to meet and unsustainable. Another person at the top level made racist comments about customers. They issued no social justice statement. Be wary: job description says there are certain benefits available (vacation time, savings) when in reality they are the state-required minimum and state-required saving options. In short, it’s a toxic work environment, no place to gain skills or grow a career.
