Glass ceilings so thick it doesn't matter if you throw rocks

Pros

Great work life balance, awesome friendly coworkers. Manage to make a large company feel very small and personal - spoke with the CEO and many SVP and portfolio managers on a multiple occasion. Eaton Vance really lived up to the whole "no one was too big for one job" mentality

Cons

Very low glass ceiling. If you don't fit their perfect cookie cutter idea of how women should walk, talk and act than you are going no where fast. It pains me to say that if I were a guy I would still be employed at Eaton Vance and steadily moving up the ladder one rung at a time

Internal Wholesaler

Pros

Your colleagues will be awesome. Smart group. The culture is old school but when you go to the internal wholesaling dept the environment is pretty good. The field guys are among the best in the business.

Cons

Middle Management of this firm is God-awful. Good people in a vacuum, but when you put them together in any decision making situation it's like you're watching an episode of the twilight zone. Most of what you do on the desk is superficial. You meet your metrics and go home. This isn't a sales job, it's a metrics job. With respect to the field, most of the guys came up in the 80s and 90s so they have no idea what it's like to be an internal now. Most of them, if they had to start over, would never get to where they are now. And yet they continually act like they've been in your shoes before.

VP Actively Discourage People from Joining

Pros

Nothing comes to mind. They rely on their distributors to sell the product. I would recommend anyone considering using our products to look at low fee market index as the performance will surely outperform any EV fund in the medium to long run.

Cons

I actively discourage anyone who has potential and the means to get a better job because this place is a death spiral. Low quality investment manager. No exit opportunities since few of heard of this place.
