Having kissed a few workplace 'frogs' I can truly say working for a small or medium business is so much more rewarding, and I love working here! It's an interesting place to work, where we are all given a lot of trust (not to be underrated) and I am surrounded by great people who are incredibly good at what they do, and best of all, they are very happy to share that knowledge with one another. Their dedication to continuous personal development and enthusiasm for what they do is great to be a part of. The Business is very well supported by a strong Operations team so the Ecologists can spend time doing what they are best at. There is also a very strong Wellbeing agenda within the business with Mental Health support and awareness at the forefront. As a team we regularly take time together to have fun and a break from the busy day to day, this is anything from a foraging experience to a brush party, a fancy dress sports day to a botany walk and everything else in between (including hopefully climbing a mountain for charity this year!!). I have been fortunate to develop my career here over the past 5 years, using my knowledge gained in both Corporate and start up environments, but i've found my Goldilocks 'just the right size' at Ecology by Design. Overall it's a great place to work, and i'm not just saying that - truly!

Ecology by Design are amazingly invested in training up staff to a high standard, and supporting learning and all aspects of work with mentoring and reviewing. There is a great variety of survey and reporting work, with real job satisfaction seeing projects through from quote to site visits, and finalised reports. Routes for career progression are transparent and encouraged; even as someone relatively new to the sector I have a good map of opportunities and plans for my ecology progress with EbD.
