Pros

This experience helped me identify red flags in co-founders, management style and work culture.

Cons

There is no such thing as annual performance review or yearly salary hike for all the employees. Over the years, the management has repeatedly got rid of employees for cost cutting by first pressuring them to resign or get terminated and get your career affected. (The HR and Co-founders are all into it together) They will burden you with work load of two people without a corresponding raise in your salary. The company pushes employees to invest in mutual funds through their app and pressures them to recruit family and friends for investment by calling you out in team channels in front of everyone. New hires are pressured to share positive experiences (approved by management) on LinkedIn and other platforms within the first six months and ones who refused are isolated ( I was asked multiple times to add posts in favor of the company and tag them and even share campaigns on my personal social media accounts) The work culture is very negative, with co-founders disregarding complaints and issues. I had raised a written complaint and the co-founders says "Its all in your head, nothing like this happens" and HR getting annoyed why I emailed co-founder about any issues at all. HR is manipulative and avoids written communication, preferring to close issues over the phone. (Beware of HR's sugar coated manipulation - they are puppets of the management) Project timelines are set by people who lack understanding of the actual time and resources needed. They don't even consult the team and create unrealistic expectations. I have personally know 2 employees who quit because of mental stress at workplace. Skill development programs lack funding - requiring employees to pay for certifications themselves - Yes - don't fall for their empty promises during interviews.

Pros

The only good thing that came out of working for EduFund is that it made me privy to what a bad startup culture looks like.

Cons

1. Favouritism & Cronyism: It's impossible to ignore the pervasive favouritism within the company. Certain employees are given preferential treatment based on personal relationships rather than merit. Promotions and opportunities seem to be handed out based on who you know, rather than what you bring to the table. If you’re not part of the ‘in-crowd,’ expect to be overlooked no matter how hard you work. 2. Office Politics: Office politics run rampant here, making the workplace toxic. There’s constant backstabbing and gossip, and rather than fostering collaboration, the culture encourages people to align with certain factions in order to get ahead. This unhealthy competition undermines teamwork and creates a stressful and divisive atmosphere. It’s more about who you’re friends with than how well you perform. 3. Poor Technical Leadership: The technical leadership is severely lacking. The CTO lacks both vision and the ability to make informed decisions, which leads to poor product direction and technical debt. There’s little to no guidance for junior and mid-level engineers, and many technical decisions seem to be made without a solid understanding of the challenges involved. This results in a chaotic development environment with no clear roadmap or strategy.

Pros

I interviewed here but didn't join. I came across through their profile on glassdoor so thought would warn others. EduFund might be suitable for individuals who excel in networking & flattery rather than those who prefer to focus on actual work and skills development. If you have strong connections within the company, are comfortable with a toxic environment, and thrive on praise and talk rather than action, this might be the place for you. However, for those seeking a healthy, supportive, and merit-based workplace, I would advise caution and thorough consideration before joining EduFund.

Cons

Overview: EduFund positions itself as an innovative startup in the education sector, aiming to revolutionize how students and parents plan for education expenses. However, based on my personal experience interviewing with the company and subsequent research on platforms like Glassdoor, there are significant red flags potential employees should be aware of. Interview Experience: Unqualified Interviewer: My interview process culminated in a discussion with the founder, who holds a BA degree. Despite her academic background not aligning with the technical demands of the role, she was not convinced of my technical skills. This raises questions about the depth of her understanding of technical competencies and the criteria used for candidate evaluation. Lack of Basic Employee Benefits: EduFund's expectations from employees are disproportionately high compared to the benefits they offer. They do not provide essential tools such as laptops, which are crucial for productivity and efficiency in most modern workplaces. High Attrition and Cronyism: A glance at EduFund's LinkedIn profile reveals a high turnover rate, which is a significant indicator of employee dissatisfaction. Moreover, there are apparent signs of cronyism. Toxic Management Practices: During my interactions with higher management and the founder, it became evident that flattery is highly valued. Those who do not engage in flattering the management often create rudeness and dismissive attitudes. Overloaded Work Environment: The company frequently justifies overloading employees with work by claiming to be a startup. This excuse is used to push tasks beyond the scope of the job description.
