Would not recommend their Graduate Scheme
Pros
- Increased salary when asked by 2k (I was the only graduate they hired in the south west area).
Cons
- No graduate plan in place as the Newton abbot site was apparently informed a few days before I was starting. - Told me to work and learn on the factory floor during the company's busiest months and then blamed me for not being able to hit targets on the blanket machine and costing the company money. - They didn't look after the factory floor staff because I left due to disagreements with the shift leader, who was not giving the staff enough heat breaks during the summer hot periods as I heard one of the girls on the towel machine fainted. I was lectured, saying that there were water dispensers around the boiling hot factory floor. You couldn't jump off a machine to get a drink because some of the targets were around 300 sheets per hour, which is 5 a minute or 1 every 12 seconds. - If staff didn't hit the target Shift Leader/ Production Leaders would proceed to shout at them. - All the experienced engineers left apparently because they would not give them pay raises compared to the newer engineers they hired. The new engineers were struggling to repair the machines. - A lot of the staff don't seem to know their rights- they can call ACAS, there is citizen advice and join an union. - When I was emailing my side of the story as I was questioning him on his decisions, I was also told not to send emails and I was not allowed to question him. - Told to pick up overtime to work on the factory floor. Management knew I was travelling 2 hours to/back from work and working unsocial hours.
