Pros

There are no pros. None at all.

Cons

I signed up with Elite in November. It took until May to receive my first manuscript. The senior editor's feedback always took a long time to receive, up to 48 hours of editing time was lost while waiting for each feedback, and it caused the first paper to almost be late. And they had the nerve to blame me. Then there's the lack of communication. I was told to use one app to receive projects. It turns out that's not the app they assign work through. They also lack one book for the agency's House Rules. Information is scattered to the winds and it took me months to find what I needed as they offer ZERO guidance. There is no mentoring. No guidance. You're expected to know every rule without exception, despite them not sending you their list of conventions or despite not receiving any working links to any of their platforms. You're left to make sense of their chaos on your own. And for the work I did do...they're not wanting to pay for my time. I almost get the sense that part of their business model is to find editors to complete a manuscript and then tell them they're not a good fit before paying them. Don't even contemplate this lot. It's not worth the effort. I've been an editor for 12 years and I've never experienced such unprofessional, chaotic conduct such as what I did from this so-called "Elite" mob who only have a couple of contracts.

Pros

Can't think of any pros.

Cons

This company is consistently months late when it comes to paying their freelancers. Since I've stopped working for them, my last invoice has yet to be paid and they have not been responding to my emails. The pay is also stupidly low. So not worth it for the quality of manuscripts you come across. I once worked on a 30,000 word book that took almost 40 hours for a copy edit because it was in such poor shape, and was paid below $300. If you value yourself as an editor, avoid this company like the plague.

Pros

I freelanced with Elite for a year before joining the company full time. Elite has an amazing CEO and culture. Everyone is very kind and competent. The fact that it's fully remote is great for working parents and others who do best working from home, and the culture is very accommodating. As a full-time freelancer, I made a significant chunk of my monthly income from working with Elite. There are a lot of different writing and editing opportunities there, so if you do well, you will be given the chance to expand into other areas and make more income.

Cons

Elite offers good rates, especially for new or intermediate freelancers, but you have to learn to work efficiently to maximize your income. The process documents for each service line can be pretty dense, but it's really important to read them closely and become familiar with the process - correctly following processes is a determining factor in your success here.
