Meaningful work overshadowed by toxic HR practices
Pros
Able to work remote Paid holidays Meaningful work
Cons
My very first day I was told I had no benefits with my position, even though I took the job because it was benefitted. This let to a month-long back and forth. I ended up with lousy health insurance but did not have any PTO. I was completely isolated and my boss made no efforts to connect me with anyone on campus (i was WFH). Things were strained between us as she was mistrustful of me, despite my credentials and proven work ethic, and would often edit my work to her own standards. She grew increasingly forgetful and agitated, making it impossible to work with her. In the end I was forced to resign when I brought concerns about my boss's mental faculties to HR and they turned it around on me. They said I was unfit for the job and should resign. I was brought in for an "exit interview" which was only performative. It was rude and patronizing, dismissing my genuine concerns and again blaming me for not being "on the same page" as my boss. They clearly did not want to let me go for fear of a unjust dismissal lawsuit.
