Used to have a good work environment

Pros

Used to have a good work environment & treat employees well

Cons

Get fired without cause. Certain staff especially in the retail delivery operate only in exchange for favours. If you don't acknowledge that, they delay approvals.

Great pay, highly political and opaque

Pros

They pay really well and they do a lot of big stuff so there is a chance to get experience you wouldn't get elsewhere. Most of the people were very friendly and good to work with, though there were exceptions.

Cons

Highly, highly, highly political and the process of what gets done by whom, etc.is opaque and never fully explained. Even people high-up on the middle management are kept in the dark with the attitude that "we'll call for you when we need you." Locals are promoted to positions ridiculously above their skill and experience level. The result is often idiots with power.

Pros

Not many but you do work on large projects. Nothing else really to say about the Pros for a company of this size. Shame.

Cons

No guidance from board levels or senior management. They chop and change at moments notice without understanding previous polices and decisions, thus creating delays internally and then blame employees for not meeting targets. So basically no real foresight or planning by board level. At project level no real leadership just sort it out by your self, and please don't ask too many questions it will show your weakness and senior management will pick at you more and belittle you. Yes it is a blame culture. Hire and then fire revolving door. Senior management Rule through fear. Not exactly productive or provide self esteem for employees to do well. Oh if you do well no recognition at all. Damed if you do, damed if you don't. I spent 10 months under going this treatment and I am mentally exhausted. I am used working under a lot pressure has I built lots of acute hospitals and renovated them with patients, however emaar senior management is something else bully tactics are used too frequently, you cannot work under this stress constantly. No bonuses, just work harder and longer with no assistance. Standard working hours are 60+ , plus some weekends. And no overtime. Ramadan is the same hours by the way if your not Muslim. If you have a family please reconsider before joking emaar seriously.
