Pros
-Rewarding work with clients and their families -Wonderful support among BCBAs -Access to PEAK and AIM -Client centered practices
Cons
-Very overworked. As a BCBA you are on call constantly including nights and weekends and hours are sporadic -Overemphasis on billable without a good balance to complete other tasks -Unprofessional tones in emails from management. The CEO takes things very personally and does not conduct themself with professionalism when receiving criticism. If the CEO does not like you, it is very apparent -Fear based leadership - if you do not meet your billable your pay will be cut -So many communication and organizational issues. It seems like all admin has many roles and policies change constantly without communication to the staff. Staff are supposed to just "know" things -BCBAs are constantly trying to put back together the pieces that management fails to do -Insanely high turnover -Some of the decisions made are a bit gray ethically, such as putting kids together in groups for "camp" that are not clinically appropriate together
