Pros

Connect with colleages over your mistreatment

Cons

Employees hours and job responsibilities are changed at random. Issues pertinent to the success of the software and of the customers are ignored by management. Staff members are pitted against each other. There is a dog that will steal your lunch from your desk and the CEO will laugh at you and not replace it. You will learn every intimate detail of management's private life and find yourself entangled in their lame web of personal drama. Employees had to let the CEO win in after-hours games of beer pong so that he didn't get mad and retaliate through their jobs. There are embarrassing spelling and grammar issues all over the site that customers will constantly point out to you.

Pros

17hats has offered me a lot of opportunity for personal and professional growth throughout my employment. I'm learning something new everyday and find myself constantly being challenged to expand my skillset as we take on new initiatives and continue to grow as a company - this is exactly what I signed up for. In my experience, hard work and dedication are met with reward at this company. I also feel a strong sense of support from upper management in both my well-being and personal advancement. There are some incredibly talented and kind-hearted people who work here. I'm proud of everything that I've accomplished with them and I'm proud to call them my friends. We have amazing health benefits, complimentary life coaching, as well as a very comfortable office space and setup. You always have the option to work from home should you need to. Lastly, we have a pretty cool product and I love what we stand for.

Cons

There are the inevitable "downs" that come with working at a startup. Directions change and surprises happen. You have to be ok with shifting gears, getting your hands dirty, and be able to continue on with your work despite not having a crystal clear path or a perfect process in place - this can be really tough for type A personalities. I struggled with this but I also feel that it has made me stronger and taught me to be flexible.
