Serious safety concerns for women - Administrative 1st Formations Employee Review

Pros

great office location in central London

Cons

Based on my experience, I did not feel this company provided a safe environment for women. For a long time, there was an employee who repeatedly harassed female colleagues and made them feel uncomfortable. Multiple women came forward to report his behaviour, yet they were reportedly encouraged to make informal complaints rather than formal ones. As a result, he received only a warning and continued to harass new female employees. It was alarming that, on my first day, I was warned by colleagues to stay away from this individual because of his reputation, while the company continued to employ him. It took over a year before he was finally dismissed. The way the situation was handled gave me the impression that the company prioritised the revenue generated by a top performer over addressing repeated concerns raised by female employees. No workplace should allow repeated reports of harassment to go largely unaddressed for so long. It was deeply disappointing to see employees' concerns appear to take a back seat to business performance.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. Concerns about safety and harassment at work are extremely serious, and I'm genuinely sorry to read that this has been your experience. While I can't comment on individual cases or confidential employment matters, I want to be clear about where we stand: harassment of any kind has no place at 1st Formations, and anyone who raises a concern; formally or informally should feel supported and taken seriously throughout. Over the past year we have significantly strengthened our approach in this area, including mandatory anti-harassment training and preventing sexual harassment training for all staff and managers aligned to the Worker Protection Act 2023. We have introduced clearer routes for raising concerns, and a firm commitment that formal complaints are always available and never discouraged. We know policies only matter if people trust them, and reviews like this remind us that trust has to be earned continuously. If you're willing, I'd welcome the chance to hear more directly. I can see from your post that you are a current employee and I'd urge you to reach out to me confidentially. Whether or not you choose to, please know your feedback has been read carefully at the most senior level. Head of People & Culture

Fantastic team, flexible, and open to innovation.

Benefits could improve but otherwise none. Company is going through scale-up changes which is a positive evolution.
