Pros
- Hands-off approach from management. This goes to rather extreme levels - if you are ambitious enough, you can almost claim ownership of entire projects. If you claim you can do something - people will trust that you can deliver. - Relatively talented coworkers (though there is churn and skill levels are declining) - Good stepping stone if you are a proactive self-learner. There is no hand-holding, but there's also no barriers for skill development. - Opportunities to go on-site working months on for good clients.
Cons
- NOT tech focused - Management treating tech as a cost center. Own tech-improvement initiatives ring weak because management steer clear of it - top management are not highly technical and top engineers have no influence. Engineers never get promoted for up-skilling themselves. - There are 2 tracks for engineers. Either working for 2359's own projects, which are staple and unchallenging - because they are mostly low-budget, experimental, short-term projects. Or work on-site at client's (i.e proxy hiring, similar to WITCH), which is a career dead-end. - Inner circle - friends of upper management gets promoted to top positions at a snap. In fact, this is arguably the only viable method to get well promoted. - Management are emotional. If you get on their bad side, they will show it on their faces, regardless if you're still performing well at the job. - No long term vision, management unwilling to invest and would jump at short term cash grabs to the detriment of employees.
