Pros
If you join 24M you will get to help scale up our lithium-ion battery technology from lab to factory in an unusually short amount of time. The workforce is diverse in a bunch of ways, dedicated, supportive, professional, and believes in the technology. Management/ leadership is headed in the right direction as we transition from startup to more mature company. HR and IT are helpful and nice to work with. I happily go to work each day and get to learn and contribute. I've worked in a few Boston-area "hard" tech startups, and this one is the best one yet for a bunch of reasons. We get to work on climate change-relevant technology that is innovative in a political and economic environment that is particularly favorable across the globe. I hope I get to keep working on this technology for a number of years to come.
Cons
24M is in the sometimes chaotic, painful, and challenging transition between scrappy R&D startup and adolescent, growing, scaled-up, disciplined company with stable, organized processes, prioritization, and cross-functional alignment. I think we have the awareness and ability to make it successfully through this natural valley, but we have to all pull together and meet the challenge and hope that the physics, chemistry, and economics remain favorable.
