Pros
Are there any? I guess the interview process is quite simple but that's about it.
Cons
I was so excited to be hired with 51 talk. I had everything set up to begin my new job as an online English teacher working remotely from home. After being scheduled for my final mandatory training which was supposed to be a paid training, I never received any word from the trainer. I was prepared and ready to start, my account was up and running to teach individual students but I was to take the group training in order to teach group classes. After reaching out to 51 talk to let them know the trainer for the group classes was no responsive I was told that I was not on the list for group training (really? I'd just received an email for it a few days prior.) This company have VERY poor communication and I would not recommend any one to work here who is serious about finding a work from home job. I still never received any response about the training about a week or so after so I told them only after 2 short weeks of being hired that I wanted to terminate my contract, and they happened to be very responsive to that. They are also a publicly traded company and it seems like they are racing to hire as many teachers as possible but do not really care about the people who they are hiring. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't. The lack of professionalism from the company as a whole would leave me hesitant on working with them again. If you are thinking of working for them don't and RUN! Look for another teaching company you are better off trying your luck there.
