Pros
*Been working for them for 2 and a half years already. * 51talk is fun! Because you can teach young learners. You'll learn your fun side too. * Flexible working hours and that's the main reason why I decided to work here. * It's okay for them if you have another job as long as it's not an ESL company. This is the second reason why I'm lucky to have them because I have an online business too. * You can take a leave whenever you need it, you just have to call/email/chat with them and tell them the reason. After which, they will give you a form to fill up but you have to state when you will come back. I can take a leave for two to three days or for a month without any bosses getting angry. *For emergencies, you need to call them too. * It's okay for them if you work for less than 8hrs a day. I usually work for 3 to 5hrs everyday. You're not forced to work more than you can offer them. I usually work at night from 7pm to 11pm. *The people from their hotline/chat support are very friendly, you just have to be friendly because their taking teacher's concerns the whole day. *No more traffic, you can invest/save your daily allowance for your transportation instead of getting stressed with traffic and stress. *Double pay: December 25 to Jan 1. / Wait for the announcements for other incentives. *There is a promotion. You'll get a higher hour rate.
Cons
*Benefits: If you you're looking for pagibig, sss, hmo and other benefits, this job is not for you. Teacher's are not employees, they're contractors, they are not entitled to receive any benefits from the company. * As for me, I have to get my own hmo, insurance and pay sss/pagibig every month. *The monthly compensation is okay...but well...it's not enough if you have big responsibilities. You have to work more hours if you want to have at least 30k a month. You need to attend seminars to be promoted. *You need a back up internet/power which is not required but eventually you'll need it if there's typhoon or internet interruptions. *You can have 3 absences every cut off or else your account will be locked. You have to call them to unlock your account.
