Pros

Many of the clients were cool, though I feel like A/B lost some of its more radical clients.

Cons

High turnover -- Within 6 months you could be working with a whole new team. Toxic work culture -- asking for support is seen as a weakness. Verbal abuse by management, who will look in every direction to place blame, instead of collectively working through and identifying solutions or taking self-accountability. I have noticed particularly high turnover amongst Black women staff. Although A/B prioritizes hiring and having Black women lead at all levels of the org, it feels performative if people are not set up to succeed or the workplace is not supportive.

Pros

I got to work with really talented and thoughtful people. From the junior staff to the Directors, the team really showed up to every project and meeting ready to collaborate and make decisions. The executive team knew how to spot talent. It's how folks were treated when they got in the door that's the issue.

Cons

Where do I start, The executives are immature. The regularly bully staff. I've been and experienced others be ridiculed by executives on calls while presenting work. Partners and the executive team will sabotage folks working under them to avoid taking accountability. Or even to indirectly screw another executive or colleague over. From the big things to the small things. It's a vanity project build around the strengths and weaknesses of the founder. None of the executives/partners want to look bad or take accountability so Directors were often thrown under the bus or left in the lurch with tasks they had no proper resources/context/support to successfully execute. I think the name change was a tactic to get away from the very bad reputation they'd developed with both talent and clients. Extremely talented people have been cut in mass layoffs, have quit or been bullied and pushed out. They sell themselves as an identity-powered agency that centers their diverse staff but it's actually a very toxic work environment.
