Cons

Started off great until you realize the communication and follow through is non existent. Not enough BCBAs in the area i was in and the clinical director and your BCBA take on too much than they can handle which results in lack of follow through for almost everything and too most responsibility on the RBT to where its unethical. RBTs spearhead almost every conversation with parents so the BCBAs don't take the time to pair and build rapport with the families themselves. Similarly, RBTs have to make their own schedule but BCBAs will change it out of the blue last minute and fail to communicate it with you. I had several families unhappy with their BCBA or engage in inappropriate behavior with their RBTs and it would be brought to the attention of your BCBA/CD and they would say it was handled when really nothing would change. Several questionable situations, ethics wise, would occur and they explain it away to make you think its not a big deal when in actuality it is. Texts early morning and late nights after work hours from both parents and BCBAs. Overall low quality supervision where half the time isn't spent focusing on programming. When programming is focused on, it is low quality written programs and procedures that lack the technology dimension entirely. I asked for over a year to be able to deliver anonymous feedback to my supervisors and was never given a way to. Similarly, I asked for feedback and rarely received verbally and never written. Jobs that seem laid back and chill are great until you realize the service the clients are receiving and your supervision is terrible and your doing way more than what the RBT job entails and pays you to do. Also benefits wise, I was at risk of losing my health insurance multiple times to no fault of my own. If you have cancelations (which happens a lot bc they don't give families strict contingencies around them) and you dip below full time hours you will get moved to part time and lose insurance. They also will not pay you for no call no shows or last minute cancellations.
