Pros
As an engineer, I cannot work for a company who's products I don't believe in. Before I even started, it was easy to see that creating a quality product that meets the customer's needs is of their highest concern. AFL puts a lot of resources to ensure they provide the best products, customer support, and educational material, making them an elite company in the industry. The energy they put into all the items required to achieve this status, make it an interesting and exciting company to be apart of. AFL also knows that to accomplish the above, they need to take care of their own. AFL has great pay, benefits, work culture, and growth opportunities that make working worthwhile in the short-term and long-term.
Cons
AFL is owned by a parent Japanese company, which provides its own unique set of dynamics. American and Japanese approaches to business are different so aligning goals and objectives can be challenging at times. There are some freedoms we do not have that a stand-alone company holds. AFL has still found success and continues to grow despite these dynamics, so they are not inherently bad, just different.
