Pros

There are no pros. This is a toxic environment.

Cons

I can honestly say that my employment with ALECIA was one of the worst experiences of my life. When I was brought on a few months ago, the company was very small, but had the potential to grow. I was told that we were in a "transition" phase, and that things were a little chaotic, but would all would be sorted out in a few months when we officially launched. I blindly accepted that as fact. Within a few weeks, it became clear that ALECIA was not on the verge of improving, but was in fact in a constant state of disarray and contrasting direction. Day by day, our jobs shifted, and our responsibilities were never made entirely clear. When we questioned directions, or asked for clarity, we would be either ignored entirely, or given a vague response. One day, a number of us were pulled into a room and told (out of the blue) that we were being let go. They told us they "didn't have hours for us anymore" and that "that likely won't change for months." Meanwhile, they posted listings online to fill the jobs they'd just eliminated. Over the course of that weekend, we received calls from HR telling us that there was a "miscommunication" and that we weren't laid off. They gaslit us, and made us think that we had jumped to conclusions, despite many of us blatantly asking managers if we were fired and being told "yes." We were called into a room that Monday morning, and the CEO assured us that our jobs were safe and that we had nothing to worry about. She said it so charismatically that I almost believed her. A month later, conditions went from bad to worse. The CEO cut off contact with us, and instead, put in place management who weren't even remotely competent or caring. We were to report to them instead of the CEO, as she no longer had time to deal with her employees. Please note that the management hired had zero production experience, and knew nothing of our jobs. All that they cared about was numbers and meeting a "deadline" that had never been communicated to us until this point. Suddenly, employees were being let go again. Hard-working, dedicated people who were great at their jobs were fired for no reason, and the rest of us were supposed to act as if nothing happened. One hour you could see an employee working at their desk, the next, their desk would be a ghost town. We were in a constant state of stress and fear that at any moment, our jobs would be gone. Eventually, a number of us were let go again, all in the course of an afternoon. When asked why, we were given varying answers, but really, it all came down to money. The CEO doesn't care about anyone but herself, and for that reason, her company will never launch and never achieve the success that was pitched to us when we were hired. The management is entirely incompetent, and the company will tank. Save yourself some pain and apply literally anywhere else.

Pros

The work environment is fantastic. Great people to work with and a great location in Downtown Nashville. Everyone is very great at what they do and fun to be around. Getting in on the ground floor of a start up can be crazy and hectic but also fun and exciting. Things do move fast and shift around but it keeps you on your feet. Sometimes you are pulled into things outside of your area of expertise but you learn quickly and get a chance to show what you can do for the company. One of the best things about working at a start up is getting to watch the company grow. If you are passionate about the company, you are set! The company also offers great benefits and time off when you are an employee of the company. We make sure to take care of each other and lift each other up and create a positive work environment.

Cons

Some people are not suited for a fast paced environment like ours but if you can keep up with the changes, you are good to go.
