Pros

Most of the absolute best people I've ever worked with work here, they do a lot for the employees, and the amenities in San Diego are really great. Interdepartmental recognition is fantastic, and you really feel appreciated at work, at least by other departments. This is huge. Despite what I'm about to say, I am extremely grateful to AMN for my job and really don't want to look elsewhere. I like coming to work each day and my coworkers are hard working, good people, and you really can't ask for more. I would recommend AMN as a great employer for it's culture and people.

Cons

Work/Life is way out of whack, and this is far from my first job, I know what real work/life balance is. There has been zero upward mobility on my team since I've been here, even though we do have different ranks. Also our job titles no longer make any sense, the job has changed completely (mainly for the better) since I started. Raises (especially in San Diego) basically amount to a pay cut. Has anyone looked at the skyrocketing rents in this town (I'm a native) and asked if they can at least give a merit raise that would be actually rewarding instead of bordering on insulting? when my rent goes up by $100 a month every year and my raise amounts to around $60-80 a month you can see where I'm going. It leads to a feeling that despite the other recognition given, what really counts is what you're paid, and for all our extremely hard work and time away from our children, we should expect more for our efforts, if AMN expects more from us. Wages for my position in San Diego are already within the bottom 10% of the median for this job. I started here as a temp contractor and make less now after 2 raises than I did when I started. Team members (at least on my team) have minimal time with their direct managers, who spend most of every day running from one meeting to the next and very little time actually managing us, except when someone screws up, even if that is less than 1% of the time. There are TMs who could really benefit from some managerial guidance to be better and more efficient at their job, since there traditionally has been virtually no training for this position. When we have questions we need answers and we need them as quickly as possible to best help our customers.

Pros

My experience with AMN’s hiring and onboarding process has been truly best-in-class. Every interaction—from Talent Acquisition to leadership—was professional, thoughtful, responsive, and genuinely human. Communication was clear and timely, expectations were well managed, and I felt respected throughout the entire process. What stood out most was the people-centered culture. AMN doesn’t just talk about values—you can feel them in how they engage with candidates and new team members. The onboarding experience has been equally impressive: organized, welcoming, and intentional. I’m excited to be part of an organization that leads with both excellence and heart.

Cons

None that I have encountered yet.

The biggest opportunity lies in simplifying how work gets done and ensuring consistent experiences across teams.

Cons

That said, like many large and evolving organizations, there can be challenges around alignment, prioritization, and navigating complexity across teams. The experience can vary significantly depending on your role, leader, and part of the business. Organizational complexity — Navigating systems, processes, and cross-functional work can sometimes feel heavy or unclear Inconsistent experiences across teams — Culture and execution can vary depending on leadership and business unit
