Pros

Great group of emts and medics, only a small handful of "bad apple" which of course can just be based on opinion and who you work good with. Most medics are receptive to answering questions and teaching emts if they want to learn or go to medic school. Morale is good. Occasionally people will bring food or treats to share. People try to help eachother get off on time. Somewhat organized ftep process for both bls and als. Most of the on duty sups are great. Base pay for EMT is 18.37 a hour for the first 8hrs of your shift, then it's time and a half for last 4hrs then double pay if your held over. Shifts are 12hrs each. Shifts are 2 2 3 which is 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on 3 off schedule. If the other side agrees you can do a 4 on 4 off instead.

Cons

Process to unionize has been slow going. Wish they weren't taking away the stipend. ALso wish it was easier to get shifts covered or traded without using pto. Pay could be better for emts and emt-as. Wish they had an ils capability so advanced emts can practice while working with a basic emt partner. Bls can be slow. Ambulances are all slowly breaking down. Some of them rattle or have broken cads or no AC or other small quirks/things that dont work.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
