As President of ASC, this is not the type of review I expect from our company. I'm very surprised about the situation you are describing where someone told you that you wouldn't be allowed to leave during a family emergency. I can say for 100% certainty that this did not happen. We are extremely family oriented and always give employees maximum freedom and latitude to deal with family emergencies when they happen. In these cases, we also go the extra mile in providing accommodation and financial help when needed. This help can include extra time off with pay and paying for flights to other states and even countries where the family member lives. I have asked our managers if anything like this has ever happened to any of their engineers or to other staff, and all have assured me that they would never keep someone from leaving for an emergency. I trust them and feel that they are telling me the truth. For closure, I recommend that you talk to your manager and discuss this with them directly to that we can address your issue one on one.
