Pros

There are some really intelligent & friendly people @ ADM. Mid-level and junior-level employees have a grueling daily workload and do a great job managing everything with a positive attitude.

Cons

Some of my frustrations while working in a leadership role for ADM included: - Compensation. They pay below market but expect elite performance. ADM has a bonus structure in place for senior team members; they re-structured it this year so that bonuses only get paid out after 3 years of continued employment, and only if the company hits its (ambitious) growth goals. They don't have outside funding so they don't have cash, and it's the current employees who bear the burden of that. - Micro management from leadership. The 3 most senior (white, male) members on the team have been at ADM the longest and have a really difficult time of incorporating other viewpoints or ways of working into their processes and structures. - No media experience. There is a definite lack of top-down understanding about the time, money, and talent investment required to run a modern multi-channel digital media agency. ADM is trying to grow its reputation from an agency that executes paid search performance marketing campaigns to a multi-channel media management agency; however, everyone who works at ADM has a paid search background. One would think that given the lack of familiarity with media outside of paid search, ADM would be receptive to guidance on how to build up their other teams, but that was not my experience. - Not family friendly. ADM talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk on work/ life balance. Employees are valued based on their ability to work long hours and take on as much work as they can. The expectations for leadership roles are sky high, and if you're not able or willing to dedicate every waking hour to your career, ADM is not going to be a fit for you.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. While it was difficult to read, we understand that each individual’s perspective needs to be heard. We are sorry your experience was not what we had wished for when you joined ADM. In response, I would like to share some specific points about our company as I take tremendous pride in building a company that is positioned for sustainable success and treats our team exceptionally well. ADM invests in annual compensation analysis to inform our salaries and bonuses. To date, which is the first five years of our company, we have compensated each role in the top 25% of the market rate. In these first five years we have paid 100% of discretionary bonuses. In 2021, we hired a Director of People Operations. Upon filling this role, we added 7 people to our team in the last quarter. ADM prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in our recruiting, our hiring, and our company culture. Our people-first culture is a personal priority. We demonstrate our commitment to this through promoting a culture that actively seeks out, listens to, and responds to feedback from all members of the team. We value our weekly one-on-one meetings, our open door policy, and our employee engagement surveys. Among other benefits, ADM offers a minimum of 9 weeks paternity and maternity leave, mandatory use of vacation days, and we recognize domestic partnership for benefits coverage. Thank you again for sharing your perspective and we wish you the best of luck in your future. Sincerely, Tellef Lundevall CEO

Cons

Small agency comes with some limitations when team members are OOO so there are busy periods. Same goes for QBRs.

Pros

Supportive leadership who accepts feedback and has their team's back. Clear expectations, thorough onboarding, regular training, and support available at all levels of the company. Reasonable client workload and good mix of up-and-coming businesses and recognized brands. There's a friendly and collaborative atmosphere across the company. Expect to get timely and friendly responses from anyone you communicate with. At the same time, there's an intense focus on getting results, driving success and innovating. Leadership does as good of a job as possible to respect work/life balance within the dynamic of a performance marketing agency. Also some fun perks like stipend for remote office equipment, occasional access to swag shop, and optional but fun off-site events twice a year (we just got back from three days in Aspen!).

Cons

Most of the cons come with the nature of agency life. Be aware of what you're signing up for. Client demands and priorities can shift often. Work/life balance is respected, but during major client promotions or busy periods it can be challenging. Without strong time management and organizational skills, things can get overwhelming.
